for the macro challenge...

currently sitting pretty for the brown ribbon at 3.43...

I routinely look for interesting images at the lowest ranking, when the challenge is over. Treasure is often found among ruins. ;-)

good to know.

my work is definately more suited perhaps in the back of an art gallery than a photography site. i was going more for traditional art than wowing people with great colours and sharpness.

Hey at any time I expect my 4.01 to drop back into the 3's. And to think I was going to enter one that had a shallower depth of field. Since my only comment has been "the whole subject should be in focus"

Oh well next time I know to take a photo of something big far away and call it a Macro

I like a shallow depth of field with macro shots (heck, I went pretty shallow too), but there are some people who don't, and that's just their opinion I 'spect... I think some shooters have a hard time getting exactly the right focus with a shallow DOF. And sometimes having a little more of the subject in clear focus makes it easier for viewers to wrap their eyes around (if taht makes sense).
