Outside of um, high pass, gb etc, I never use any of the tacky standard nor commercial plug-ins.
Since our rules appear to be try what you want within the guidelines..does this include filter effests which I have made myself? Here is an example of a filter not available anywhere.

Within the current rules that wouldnt be legal as you are adding elements to the image, namely the smoke and lamp. |

looks like you should be using plug-ins. people on this site would vote you way down because it doesn't preserve the integrity of the photo. That is digital art, not a photo. I personally like digital art, but this site is to make you a better photographer, not a better digital artist.

Of course, I am referring to filters that alter the presentation of pixels. They add no elements, they only alter the pixel qualities, much like the um and gb.
I posted the leader because it is a filter that makes smoke, However, filters which alter pixel quality are not as obvious.
