In this case, the fact that it's a cactus only makes it marginally more interesting to me. At least shooting at a different time of day that offered a more interesting quality of light might have helped. Sorry, 3.

while this is an interesting point of view, for me the shadows and highlights are just too far apart and are distracting. It's an effect, but for me it doesn't work well. 4.

Sorry, for me this isn't a compelling or interesting point of view. If the photo used the full 640 allowable pixels it might be easier to tell whether or not it's in focus- from here it doesn't appear to be. 3.
