What a fabulously captured moment of nature. When I see something like this, I always wonder, "HOW did they capture that?" You must have gotten wet, no? Was your camera in a housing?
Separate from that is just the raw power and energy existent here. It makes me both cringe AND scream "YEEE HAAAW!", or, as your title so succinctly states it... wooo!
With the sun peeking through the wave, it's just a reminder of life in the background, and the power of the earth that could so suddenly take it away, and the thrill ride that we experience as humanity every day, playing on the edge of that knife. |

I am always impressed when someone can take the absolutely mundane, and turn it into something worth looking at. The experimentation can be fun, as well, and while I tend to lash out when shots and set-ups and images like this win ribbons and get front-page exposure, it's less because I actually like shots (and I know this didn't win anything itself) like this, but more because I just wish more diversity would be seen.
Now, I'm rambling, and I don't know why. All I wanted to say was that I enjoyed seeing this, and that the thumbnail pulled me in. Nice job changing the every day into the not-so everyday. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

My first thought when I see this is an instant heart-tugging. I'm impressed with the theme here, which few would have the guts to do. While I'm not a religious person, the tie in to the angelic fall from grace, tied to the curiosity and inevitability of the loss of innocence that is waiting for all of us as we make the passage from childhood into other stages of humanity, is still quite profound. The grasping hands, which are almost invisible at first, almost suddenly and painfully become a part of awareness, and when we see this adorable child, who seems completely unaware of the dangers and uncertainties of the future, and instead seeming absolutely anxious to discover them, on the very edge of darkness, the body shudders.
What is awaiting her? Do those hands represent ill-intent, or are they helping hands, only wishing to guide her to a new beginning? Is the darkness 'evil', or is it merely a representation of the unknown? Will the light follow, or is it merely there to begin the descent, to fade away as the steps go further down the flight of the stairs of life?
Only that child shall know, the angel of our beginnings, whether she brings her innocence with her, or whether she leaves it behind to become the demon of what is to come. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

This is a nicely emotional 'family' portrait that breaks through a few cliches to be just interesting and unique enough to stand out a little. Closer inspection shows a few technical flaws, but nothing that won't be corrected through simple practice, and moving to better lighting control. There are what appear to be focus issues, with details being lost and or muddied due to it, or JPEG compression, I can't really tell which. Regardless, it would make a mirthful and pleasant christmas/holiday greeting, and it's nice to see people not afraid to be a little less serious for such things. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

I did not see the entry that this is an outtake from, but what can I say about a photo that causes me to contemplate an empty soul, lost within its own madness? Only that while I am uncomfortable from the outset, I still have a desire to see. Message edited by author 2009-11-17 22:32:29. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Once in awhile, in the midst of all the chaos, we capture a moment in time that stops us still, and makes us stare. With the power of unbridled energy, yet the calmness of the eye of the storm, this is such a moment. Message edited by author 2009-11-17 22:32:00. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

While I like the intent of this moment, which feels to me almost like the revealing of a personality still yet draped in modesty, the darkness that surrounds it almost fights for the attention. Is the bride happy, is this day what she truly wants, or is this a glimpse into a darker nature behind the mask of matrimony? What am I truly seeing here? It is as if it invites me in, but the intentions are not noble. It is both honest, yet deceitful. Calming, yet frightening. Message edited by author 2009-11-17 22:31:39. |

I just wanted to say that this thumbnail dragged me kicking and screaming in to look at it, and seeing the larger version wasn't a disappointment.
I like the subtle 'acid' treatment (have always been a minor fan of this method, when done right), and in this case, it really serves to bring some attention to the eye. An eye which screams at the viewer "I notice you there, and I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT".
One feels obligated to spend time with that eye, before finally noticing the rest of the shot. The face is cut off mid-line, adding a mystery. The pursed lips are simultaneously slightly sensual, yet foreboding, and the drop-off into a blurred background is like drifting off to sleep, but with the reminder of the discomfort, so perhaps dreams that will follow will haunt you.
However, morning shall always come, and the light shall always banish the dark, and things always look fresher when the air and the cobwebs of the mind have been cleared.
Things usually do turn out ok, but in the meantime, you have created a moment that captures a time when things weren't at their best, a moment that can be reflected upon, and remembered. Message edited by author 2009-11-17 22:31:06. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

| 11/07/2009 03:43:46 PM | Fire in the skyby Yo_SpiffComment: ...and in the flash of a moment of time, Steve's historic demonstration became a fight for life and control. It was the mid-21st century, and this sort of thing could not happen anymore, he thought, as he fought against the sudden fire billowing from his plane, his controls becoming more and more unresponsive. As he fought the flight-stick, the plane careening out of control, and a crowd on the ground screaming and running for cover, Steve saw the catalyst for this tragic happening out of the corner of his eye, a ghostly red plane, with tri-wing design, shooting off into the clouds, and a thin but strong chord of evil laughter being left in its wake.
Steve closed his eyes as his plane finally went into a dead spin, his control now utterly lost. He closed his eyes and silently cursed the legacy of his family, and he put a hex on the ghost of the Red Baron, which would never leave he or his descendants alone, and he prayed for his young son, who loved airplanes so, and in his last moments he wished that perhaps, just perhaps, his son might be the one to finally put the Red Baron to rest. One day...
...and with that thought, his own future disintegrated into a fireball on the ground, and in the crowd that stared in horror, was one little face, his eyes like stone, his fists clenched in an anger he didn't understand, and a vengeance was sworn. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
