"Mixing" Cooking Oil and Dark Soya Sauceby CheerzComment: despite the extremely shallow DOF and "scattered" focus i really love this shot alot. the browns, blacks and white reflections really captivate me. looking through all the pix in the challenge 99% were spot on with my voting... this was the 1% that wasnt. i wouldve loved to have seen it do better. still a 9 in my book |

Bloodstreamby zackdezonComment: one of the 3 tens i gave out. i love the selective desat as well as the title it fits so well in the challenge. i also am a huge fan of the DOF combined with the angle/perspective you used. great shot! |

tieredby smurfguyComment: im very upset that this did so poorly, this was one of only 3 10s i gave out this challenge. i love the movement as well as the uneven spacing of the spoons. i may be taking this a little to deep but i also like how you used plastic ( oil based) spoons rather than metal ones, just icing on the cake |

Fireworksby rlewisComment: GREAT perspective! im not a huge fan of the lights on the mountains i wouldve probably cloned some out (although that may be considered cheating to some). great saturation on the colors as well! |

Hube Sunsetby APComment: i actually view this less as a sunset shot and more as a portrait. his face give a stoic feeling even when set next to this spectacular sunset as though a long hard journey is coming to an end and the sun setting has little to do with the task at hand. i also like how it is only illuminating his face leaving the last spot of sun and his face as the only 2 points of illumination in the shot. did you grid the flash? |

Reflections.jpgby APComment: this might be my favorite from your portfolio as well. im not usually a big fan of duotones but it really makes this shot into something more than just an island with a tree on it... it is made into more of a shimmering mirage, the blown out reflections in the water give both a serene and fleeting feeling as though this is only a moment not meant to last more than a few seconds |

Elemental Roadby APComment: im split between your 2 takes of this shot. in this take i LOVE the high saturation and the crisp details i feel like the dynamics of the edit stray from your typical editing ( which is neither good nor bad) and i wouldnt have thought about this shot being edited any other way until i saw the other version. i really think the other version is more your style ( whatever thats supposed to mean) and i actually prefer the diminished contrast that gives more texture to the trees and to the winding road by removing the powerful lines drawn by shadows. either way i love the shot |

Out of Ruin, Sprouts Lifeby APComment: im sure that youre right about the deer doing better ( thats just DPC for you hahaha) but i see much more beauty and creativity in this one. i love how you employ low key shots to produce stronger emotions i feel like the enveloping darkness of the old greenhouse really helps personify the struggling, lone fern. |
