Usually I use RAW adjustment tool, color balance, selective color, channel mixer, hue/sat and layer mode to enhance colors and details. There is no need of HDR when the whole scene is within the dynamic range of your camera RAW. Sometimes HDR processing will just screw up your image especially when there is nice gradient in your image. I rendered one HDR version for your comparison. As you can see, the left side of the sky looks strange.

I can't say I agree with the choice of color effects, but I do think that the border that was added is very distracting to the picture.

Should have had dog as primary focus not lawn in front of him/her. Also detail seems to be lost in the dog.
