Lemon Grass infused Spring Rolls by JC_HomolaComment: Congrats on winning. I didn't have time to vote, but you won my #1 spot! I knew an Asian inspired dish would win. Their recipes are an artform.
Just curious, I tried a recipe like this once (and I love Asian foods of all varieties) and when I tasted it, it came out inedible. I am a good cook and so since that time I have shyed away from rice paper recipes like this. I made a shrimp rice paper roll with cilantro, shrimp and something else. Does this have nice flavor? |

Homemade For Fidoby GraciousComment: Gotta love this recipe -- at least my dogs will! I cook for my dogs a few times a week. I feed them cheap cuts of meat, rice or potatoes (or grains) and veggies -- all fresh -- and it is cheaper than buying dog food! My two dogs also eat a can of salmon (when on sale or mackerel) and a sweet potato when I am in a hurry. I can feed them for about $.25 -.75 cent a meal -- and they eat way better than most children. It's so simple... As a society we have been brainwashed to believe dog food is king...on the contrary if you read up on it. Great photo!! |

Blackberry Liquorby SwashbucklerComment: Hey Swash! Yum! I made pear liquor last fall and it was heavenly too. It is made the same way, except you add one granny smith and some spices. |

This bird slamed into our windowby MikaelComment: Reply to Mikael's E-mail below:
Mikael:
In the United States, we have organizations that rehabilitate wildlife -- and yes, they rehabilitate birds. Fellow Mortals is one such organization in Wisconsin who rehabilitates many wild creatures -- of which the majority are birds -- even small song birds like yours.
Maybe you can locate a similiar organization in your country in case you encounter this situation again. Most birds who are stunned from hitting a window die from internal bleeding/trauma.
Best,

This bird slamed into our windowby MikaelComment: Mikael sent this e-mail to me:
"Well, do you for REAL think that a vet would take time to nurse a bird ther´s uncountable amount of??
Also I´d like to see you taking a fat rat (or some other animal not so "cute looking") to the vet cause its stuck in someones trap, or partially injured by some other animal.
Let it go and hope that it will survive, otherwise it will benefit some other animal.
Just to be clear, dont take this as a angry reply!
and sorry for any bad choise of word.
Regards,
Mikael"

Hybridby clauderbaughComment: This is a daylily. There are hundreds of varieties of day lilies so I don't know the exact name, but it is a daylily. : ) |
