The Bridge to the Eastern Shore by Bear_MusicComment: Very impressive result and thanks for the processing info. It may well finally move me to try some of these available tools. The "1" is beyond comprehension, but I guess we still protect free speech and "honor" the fringe elements. |

Espresso Loveby gyabanComment: I think this is an easy win. I normally hate studio shots but this one works on so many levels, technical, stylistic, visual and emotional, that it's impossible not to be very impressed, even moved by the retro look of days long past and unrecoverable as reminisced in that fading smile and far-away gaze. Or maybe it was that bottle of Kahlua... |

Winter Day, Winter Skyby KarenNfldComment: I don't know what to do with a great shot like this that misses the topic. These topics are silly sometimes but since it says "RULE of the thirds" I suppose we have to comply. This works for the fifths but misses the thirds. Still a good shot with just a bit of halo at the horizon. |

8:43 AMby mariucaComment: There are many engaging elements in this shot but I wonder if you are aware of what struck me first, which is the relationship between the hand and what could be the shadow of a ball thrown into the air with the expectation of being captured again by the same hand like a juggler. |

My Old Friendby hotpastaComment: Nice "work". Excellent light, tones, and comp and should finish in the top five, but maybe too polished. Personally I'm conflicted by the artificial border and cobwebs on the hammer. The hand vividly says "active hard work", but the cobwebs say, "not with this neglected tool and not recently". The elegent border is a drag on the gritty impact. So, while first visual impression is an easy 7; the lingering impression of an artificial setup is a 5 or less; and net effect is only a mid 5 - 6. I'll nudge it a bit to a 6 because I like the tones and lighting - better than I could have done. |
