Peaceful Desolationby MonaComment: I like the colors, particularly the blue of the sky. I like how the tree "climbs" up the frame bowing just a touch into the picture. Beaufiully cropped. Maybe just a little too soft in teh focus though? |

Smoky Mountain Bluesby vernabethComment: Was this taken through a glass or something? There is a distortion to it that I thought at first might be intentional but in fact, to me, is quite distracting. |

The Back Riversby e301Comment: Rather than enhancing the mood of the murky waters, the darkness of the "walls" to the left and right of the river (are those trees?) become overpowering. Another time of day perhaps when the shadows are not so deep and this might have been more effective. |

My ill dogby TellopazzoComment: I'm sorry the poor thing is ill, but the photo doesn't really have any impact. It feels too much like a snapshop that anyone might take of a pet instead of being something to be artistically interpreted. |

Just a Matter of Timeby alanfreedComment: The implications of this shot are truly difficult to think about. Had your subject given slightly different body language to convey his intent, I think it would have been even more powerful. Nicely shot though. |

Alone on the lakeby RobinkaComment: I'm not sure the boat being so high in the frame works here. I'd like to see it cropped so that there is a greater expanse of water beyond. |

Money desolationby zepequenoComment: An interesting interpretation of the challenge. I like the lighting and the placement on the page. It seems a little soft in the focus and I think in a shot like this, the sharper the better. I like the humor. |

aloneby GinaRothfelsComment: Although you have captured the mood of the theme, there is something that is not working for me in this shot. I think it might be the fact that the hand is so much the focal point. I would much rather see more of the face and perhaps some expression. |

Left aloneby canonS400Comment: This is one of those photos that causes me to stop and think. I like that. At first, I thought the focus should be on the boy but the longer I look at it, the more I realize that you were right in keeping him soft in the background. It reiterates the feel of his loneliness, of not being the focus in anyone's life at that given moment. Whether he was asked to sit that way or it was a candid shot, his body language is perfect. |
