I think the angle of this shot, detracts from the message. Maybe the cropping...it's hard to put my finger on what causes me a sense of uncomfortableness when I look at this. Others will probably love it, I guess that's art, though.

My eyes are drawn to the blank space between the apple and the kitty. Perhaps a different angle on this shot would have brought definition to the "purpose" of the shot.

Cropping at bottom is odd, I don't like the straight angle on the left and the variances of the squares on the right. Either all 90 degrees of keep things on the angle.

For me, DOF is backwards. Focus on the fingers, let the paint support the message.

The editorial comment is interesting. For full effect, eyes should be closed, there is too much life in an open eye.
