The range of brightness is a bit too wide here, I would suggest shining some light on the background so the garlic won't be so blown out and you will still see the background. Ambient light and a longer shutter speed might have helped to avoid the harsh shadows as well. I like the texture of the surface you used, it is very earthy which goes well with the garlic.

Very nice shapes and colours, I find it visually pleasing. It seems though that the front of the subjects are slightly out of focus, and could be improved by increasing the depth of field.

It does look fresh and healthy, but unfortunately your subject is not in focus which is a pretty serious technical issue, and your score will suffer for it, sorry to say. Keep trying though :-)
