I thought I should circle back with you. I mentioned you in the comments of one of my images //dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=684701 because I was inspired by your photo. I love the intimacy of your shot... I'm fascinated how the camera allows the viewer to be so close to the subject without having ever met. To be this close would be SUCH an invasion of personal space, yet the photo makes it okay. Interesting in a weird way.

Anyway, I wasn't trying to duplicate your shot but I wanted something that had a similar intimacy. I think I pushed the wide angle distortion a little more than you. My daughter did the modeling for me because she's much more pleasing to look at up close than me. :)

Anyway, thanks for the great image and thanks for the inspiration. I wanted to make sure you know your work is appreciated and has spawned creativity in others (or copycats).

Thanks!
Chris

Dorothy passed away on 7/19/08, ending their 68 year marriage, just 4 days after Pete's 99th birthday (about 4 months after this shot was taken). Pete is still going strong and sharp as ever but completely heartbroken after losing his sweetheart. They first met 85 years ago in 1923. They defined what love and marriage are all about.

This was likely the last shot of them together.

Lovely composition. I love the hat and the expression. The face is a tad grainy. Lighting works well.

Beautiful girls. The sun and hot pink (and girls) definitely convey hot. If they were sharp and looking at the camera you would have a great shot. The fact that it appears that they're posing for someone else and you shot with a long lens throws me off.

I love this shot. The intense stares make it. Great composition. The model on the right is slightly OOF, which leads me to the eyes of the model on the left. That's not all bad but I think I'd like it better if they were both sharp. Lighting is excellent. Well done!

I love the intense stare. Nice bubble placement. Lighting seems to be brighter in the midsection and fall off a bit at the face, which leads my eye more to the middle of the shot than the models eyes. Nicely done.
