"Scream"by mbardeenComment: Wow. Roller coasters scare the heck out of me, so I definitely can hear the screams. And the yellow against the nice, clear sky is a great contrast. Good composition; I almost feel I can see the coaster moving. |

Whistlesby GolferDDSComment: Very bright, very symmetrical (but not so much so that it's boring), good composition. However, whistles not being blown do less to evoke sound for me than something actively producing sound would, so while it does fit the challenge it doesn't do so as intently as I prefer. |

Sound Wavesby ToddhComment: Okay, that is just COOL, and I want to know how you did it.
There's a bit of a weird reflection that doesn't look like it's related to the headphones which is a bit distracting, but otherwise, I rather like this setup. Almost looks like an advertisment for the brand, in a very good commercial art way.
Headphones and waves hit the topic; not a big grab me "I'M SOUND" but definitely without any second thought required. |

Tickle Those Ivoriesby STEINRComment: Interesting I got two piano pictures in a row. Yes, it definitely hits the topic. I'm not sure the straight-on side view is the best, but it's not bad, either. A bit more focus on the keys and less on the fingers maybe? |

Pianoby BobsterLobsterComment: I want to know what you (or your subject) is playing! (Maybe it'll be in the notes.)
I suppose I should not be surprised at the presence of several piano-related shots. I like the blur although the left hand maybe is a little too still by comparison. The angle is interesting, but something about the lighting seems off -- maybe a bit too bright on the moving fingers, or is that an artifact of the motion capture? |

Skeet Shootingby kebmod54Comment: Mmm. Yes, it evokes sound, but the picture itself does nothing for me. I'm not a gun fan or a sport shooting fan which probably explains the disinterest, and the homogenity of the green foreground and back doesn't really capture my attention well either. Still, very definitely on topic. |

Fishing in Silenceby rll07Comment: HmmmmMMMm, another 'silence is sound' shot that I have to think about. Postcard-pretty, although I think a tighter focus on the fisherman would have been preferable for the topic; as is, it's almost a little distracting to have him there. Possibly I might have had more of a 'sound' reaction if this were earlier in the morning, a time I recall fishing in on vacation which does indeed have its own special sounds; but a mid-day shot is definitely more 'silent' and therein lies the ambiguity for me on how well I feel it meets the challenge. |

The Roar of a Fast Flowing Riverby CLarson557Comment: Heh, after so many duotone images rated last week with non-coloured landscape scenes, it was actually a little strange to see a colour one. (Not bad, just a quick double-take.) Very nice, the capturing of the wake or wave against the pylon, which is definitely something that evokes sound for me -- I grew up near a large body of water. The background being such a bright green on the left is a little distracting but I'm not sure what all you could have done about that and still caught the water motion well. |

Split Secondby crabappl3Comment: At first I was wondering what the connection was to the topic, before it sunk in the alarm was ringing. This puts it in a range of photos where my initial impression wasn't SOUND (in your face) but afterthought showed it to be correctly on topic, which may say as much about my perception as it does about the choice of topic.
I think the ringing bell might stand out more with different lighting or a different background (or maybe even in colour, especially if this is brass-toned), which would have helped that initial impression. Otherwise, I like it. |

Bird's songby ChiquiComment: Wow, what an amazingly neat subject for a photo. It does meet the challenge, in an unusual and strikign way. I'm trying to decide if I think the man should be a little further to the right so there's no negative space on the right edge of the elbow; I think that might have been a little nicer. Top to bottom is fine, though. |
