I like this, the pouring caramel, the pretty caramel on the ice cream... would be interesting to see it in a classier bowl but it's fine as is.

I don't know. The shot makes me hungry, that suggests it's at least a good shot of popcorn, but it's not really the world's most interesting topic. Plus for being on topic and the butter being seriously visible.

Moonlight Sonata

I just want to thank folks that took the time to comment.

The dimness was partially intentional (the title of the photo and the song alike) but the degree was imposed by the camera as there's no way for me to manually adjust shutter speed. I did miss this had visible non-intentional blur -- I was looking at the fingers and less at the keys -- and probably shouldn't have. Alas. Also I probably should give up on this type of shot til I have a better camera, although I thought I'd done a LITTLE better job of capturing it than I ultimately did.

The angle was the one I liked best -- I thought it was more interesting than the straight-on ones -- but I probably would have been better off with the straight-on ones as those involved the camera on a solid surface.

I did have one with blue keys but the resulting noise was intolerable and couldn't be cleaned up, alas.

Well, I'll keep trying. The new camera is slated for late July or early August, at which point I will probably try for another version of this shot just cuz I like the idea enough.

On the Rocks

Nice creamy/foamy effect, and I like the way the liquid comes off the ice. Maybe a bit too much ice -- 'on the rocks' doesn't have to mean 'completely full of ice cubes', and it means we get to see less liquid. The folds in the backdrop are slightly distracting.

Hehe. Nice shot, I really like the setup, the basic composition, and the moment of capture. I really don't like the backdrop colour, I'm afraid; it's a good contrast to the liquid colour but it's extremely bright and somewhat jarring, and not really on my favorite list of colours anyhow. I'm wondering if you could have acheived as good a contrast with something a little less well-lit or a little less saturated in terms of colour... well, it's a trade-off, maybe. Still, excellent overall.

I'm assuming it's inadvertant you have an eye-nose-eye shape in the mixer's foundation, but you do, which is kinda neat.

Hmm, I'm afraid I don't care for the lighting effects on this. Everything looks blurry and grainy as well. It's definitely on-topic, I have no trouble with a sense of liqiud.

I agree your photo contains liquid. But when I look at it, I think, "Blood pressure", not "liquid", in other words, I have to work to make it on topic in my head. it was an interesting idea, and you're the second person who has sent me to a dictionary to look up part of what their title meant, so I learned something from it.

I like the idea and the pen is gorgeous. The semi-candid look is a nice touch. Just a touch more focus on the wet ink (or a touch more wet ink) would have helped in terms of challenge-meeting.

Okay, while this conveys a liquidy feel, I don't care for the motion-capture lightning storm effect, quite honestly. And I can't tell it's 'syrup' as per your title; the colour gives it much more of a watery feel, which is a shame given the topic specifications.
