Night Sentinelby BudComment: A photo that has a lot of potential.
I agree with yospiff that the star trails are not long enough to be really effective. Overall, I think the composition in frame is good. However, when I look at this photo, I am not sure what the subject is supposed to be.
The title would lead me to believe that the large tree around center frame is the subject. However, it's only a silhouette, and therefore is an extraneous background element. IMHO, what would have really helped this photo is to light that foreground tree... Fairly simple to do with such a long exposure. Hit it with a strobe, shine a flashlight on it and paint it with light, use a worklight; whatever is handy.
Photos like this bother me because they have tons of potential, but a few glaring issues caused voters to score it low. With a few minor alterations, this could have scored near the top of the pack.

...as Silkby LVicariComment: Great shot. You obviously fell victim to voters passing judgement on your photo before it was validated.. Been there, done that.
5 1's, 4 2's and 10 3's?? What a shame. This was probably the most unique entry in the challenge. You were robbed. |

~Just me~by Dirt_DiverComment: I think the DPCO is bring out the worst in some voters. I have seen so many good photos being scored at least a full point lower than they should.
As another user noted, '5 is the new 6'. :( |

Give me one of those cold light drinks, please...by fededecbaComment: I'm sorry that I didn't vote in this challenge, because this was one of my favourites. I think you got stung by the 2-second view done by most voters. A lot of voters probably thought this was an actual glass on a table and got confused.
It really requires a bit to fully appreciate, which most voters are not willing to give each photo.
I'm making this a favourite because I think it's great. |

Train Kept A Rollin' by HipychikComment: Terry, a huge congrats on the ribbon! No big surprise though... I knew as soon as I saw this photo that it would get an awesome score! |

Movie and Popcornby karenkComment: I can't believe that this only scored a 5.59! I gave it a 7, and I think it's outstanding. |
