(Thanks, Skip!) I appreciate those comments that "got" what I was trying to do with this! One FAVORITE, even!! Thank you!!!

(As for the "poor lighting and focus" comment -- sometimes these lighting and focus efffects are, duh, intentional. Try... whoa... scribbling outside the box once in a while! Hey! It's fun!! Wow!!! Effects! Freedoom!! Creative Expression!!!)

But, that's okay. Man. I'm here to LEARN too, and we're ALL on a learning curve, right? I just think the newbies ought to learn a little more before presuming to be so critical. I'm not really so concerened with scores, though, as much as trying out different ideas. So... whatever. But I try not to criticize others' efforts at creativity. If'n I don't "like" an entry, I choose not to score it or to comment. Easy. Peace and Love! (And... yes, "Pisces Rising is a very good sign.") HAVE FUN!!!

Hmmm... 10 10's, 10 9's... my personal best to date. 16 out of 147. But it's not so much about the judging and competition and numbers for me (I have to keep reminding myself) as in the experience and the learning. I suppose the numbers help give me a good indication as to whether I'm making some progress in my learning curve, though, so a valid process. Thanks for all the very nice comments -- and, yes, scores -- on this one! Peace!

Thanks for all your nice comments! My highest scoring entry yet. In retrospect, I think I could've done a little better with the execution of this one. Shouldn't have waited until the "last minute" to try to put it together. But, thanks again. 19th is a really major step in the right direction for me; and I'm so glad several of you got a laugh out of this one. Peace, Love, and Much Happiness to You! -- "Old Coyote"

(And by the way, I think the USA would do far better to embrace our brothers and sisters from around the world than to try to build fences to keep everyone out. It's time to Make Peace by building bridges! Let's hope there's a new day dawning!!)

Wow! 7th from last... at least not another brown ribbon. (Woulda been my 2nd in as many months.) What a bunch of comments, WOW, from "GOOOOO!" to "...here's your 1!" So, no apologies. This is still a learning curve. Yeah, I know, DNMC, right? But I had to go with this shot. It captured the moment for me... 18,000 people at a highly energized Obama '08 Rally!!! Bright television lights and flashes firing constantly. Carolyn Kennedy was there, even! But I'm drifting off topic. Point is, I was fully-zoomed, and hand-held at 1/30th sec. Sharp enough pour moi. I captured the glare, the lights, the action, the energy. I was THERE, "dude!" (No, not a TV screen capture, um, duh...) Sure, I could've pumped up the volume, added contrast, yada yada, but I captured a moment as I experienced it. Outside the clunky box. Not within the lines. Not so into scores and competition that it matters. Just trying out different things. And, yes, per a recent thread, it's not about being clever or catchy titles at dpc... it's about the photo challenge. I still say there's room for artsy fartsy... and a play on words, i.e., "The Eyes Have It!" = "The Ayes Have It!" as in winning an election... Barack's got his eyes on "the prize" and all 36,000 eyes were on him that warm night. ("Whatever, dude," right?) So, Ladies and Gentlemen, you're looking at the next great President of the USA! It's time for a change! We CAN DO BETTER and we will! Peace now!! Let's restore this country to the shining example of goodness and kindness and love for our fellow man that we can and should be. Ranting here? Oh, 'scuse please. I'll step down from my soapbox now. Whatever you do, get out there and VOTE... right? Peace & Love -- Coyote. Sweet dreams.
