Susanby undieyatchComment: To me, this looks a little too dark on her left side (camera right). Perhaps a reflector would add some fill to bring that side of her face out of the shadows. Other than that, a great attempt a meeting the challenge head-on. |

Matthew Sinhby dharmesonComment: I think a little fill-flash to get some catch-lights in the eyes would add a lot to this otherwise great shot that captured a lot of emotion. |

Taschaby johnmComment: Great attempt at meeting this challenge. The backlit-hair thing can work very well in a portrait situation, but to me it looks a bit over-done here, so much so that it has turned a large portion of her hair yellowish-white. I also probably would have cropped this to a portrait orientation. I think with a little diffusion on the backlighting, you can end up with a great shot! |

Samby JackoComment: Hmm, I have NO idea whose entry this might be, so let me just say: what a cute kid! The exposure is spot-on and looks great. The expression is perfect and the little yellow dog? moose? whatever? is a great modifier in this shot. The only thing I might have done is cropped it a little closer, but I'm not taking any points off for that. Great job! |

Anastasiaby nbortonComment: This is an excellent capture. I can't think of anything I can suggest changing. The tight crop works well here, and really shows off those great blue eyes! Nice work. |

My Cameliaby mariomelComment: Great model! The lighting on the left side of her face (the right in the picture) is a little too harsh. Not sure if the exposure was bumped up to bring out shadow detail or not, but perhaps a reflection on her right side (to the left of the camera) could have put a little bit of fill on the left and allowed for a little better exposure without the stark highlights. Or perhaps the light on her right side just needed to be diffused a little more? In any case, still a very nice capture! |

Smile!!!!!!!by lmatrangaComment: Nice capture. Perhaps a little more contrast might improve the presentation. Resetting the black point so the blacks are "really black" instead of a dark gray might be worth trying. |

My reason for living...by tp-fcpComment: Great subject and pose. Perhaps the shoulders turned a little bit more toward the camera instead of "sideways". Also, the skintones look a bit "too smooth" to me. I realize that young people do have very soft skin, and perhaps I am off in this observation, but it has a bit of "plasticness" to it. |

-LAURA-by AnastasiaComment: To me, the tilt of the picture is such a strong contrast to "gravity-defying" look of her hair that it adds a bit of a strange feeling to the shot. I can't quite seem to put it into words. Other than that, it is an excellent portrait. |

Attitude is Everythingby justineComment: Great capture. My only comment is that a little more DOF so that the eye in the back was sharper would've made this more "portrait like". |
