Safari Samby JackoComment: Nice work Jacques! You captured little Samuel wonderfully in this shot. Definitely my choice for "best baby pic" in the challenge! |

Blond light by LouisonComment: Just a quick note to say this is my favorite shot in the challenge. Great work. |

Native American pow-wow comes to Lakewood.by jimsappComment: The blue temporary fence in the background is distracting. I hate those things; they always end up in my viewfinder too. One option to address that issue and improve on the composition would be to get down lower and zoom in on the face of the gentleman in the foreground. This subject matter has some good potential, and getting "in close" would focus attention. |

Lassie, Home Safe and Soundby phraid2002Comment: I think this headline would be better accompanied by a photo of Lassie's family joyfully hugging their long-lost pet instead of a "pet portrait". As a pet portrait, it's a great shot though. I'd just crop in closer, which would have the benefit of getting rid of the weed. |

All set for battle at Sepangby gwsallenComment: The empty stadium seats detract from the "realism" of this shot. Typically newspaper race photos will be zoomed in close, and cover either major events during the race (a crash, for example) or the winner. |

McMahon Dominates June Sprintsby mnastComment: Zoom in! Zoom in! The background is distracting, and photos like this are typically cropped as tight as possible to minimize those distractions. Great subject matter and panning shot though! |

The World Wide Food Competitionby nickgustoComment: I think you may have been better off trying to come up with a "headline" for the "Food" section that dealt with the recipe for this salad or something along those lines. Perhaps "[Food Section] Salads Perfect For Summer". Nice DOF, but the napkin seems haphazard and out of place. I'd also try cropping the extra plate off the top. |
