the focus seems to be on the petal in the back, a pity, the flower stands indeed well out against the dark background. |

on the edge of darknessby shamblesComment by MsAmbrosia: I like the contrast of your subject against the dark background. The centre of the flower looks a little soft to me, and I would have cropped a little less at the top so that petal wasn't cut off. |

Alienby shamblesComment by SaraR: A tilted horizon can be used to add dynamism to an image, but it is not altogether successful here. The photo is somewhat over-exposed, and the tonal range is rather flat. Adjusting the levels would at least bring out the mid-tone contrast a bit more.
