The metal surface of the figures looks sort of wrong to me. Don't know if it's the metal itself. I'm suspecting it was the "fill light" setting (or its equivalent) you'd have had to turn right up to bring detail out of the figures against the sky.

Now knowing the story behind the photo, I do see your interpretation (I think) but it's one that was lost on about 99% of your audience, I wouldn't have worked it out in a million years if I'd not seen your explanation.

That said, I don't feel it deserved anything like the score it did though :-( There's nothing technically wrong with the photo at all. The details and lighting are excellent.
