"When you wish upon a star..."by NordlysComment: I was fixated on the lovely Lion Fish and finally saw the star after a while. Very nice colors, DOF and composition, though maybe it's a little bit cramped it does maximize the detail. Did you stick the "star" on the aquarium glass? It really grabbed the fish's attention. Well done. |

whirln dervishby PikkelComment: I came to look at your entries after your comment about never getting in the 5's. Obviously this is a personal weather station, or at least the wind direction/speed part of one. It's really blown out as someone else said, and the phone/power lines behind it really hurt it also. You did well on the motion blur, still leaving enough definition to see what it is, and if you had maybe changed the angle shooting down the bar with DOF getting sharp when the device is reached and with trees in the background and reduced the exposure a bit it may have done better. The direct sunlight makes exposure difficult. Ideally you should have either waited for sunset (hoping the wind didn't die down then) or put some sort of diffuser screen blocking the direct sun from the unit. |

Slaveby mgarsteckComment: You have to admit there are countries where making a statement like this while in the military in uniform (or a civilian for that matter) in picture and words will get you executed, so you are not as silenced as you may think. I voted 6 with the majority based, as I said during voting, on the composition and getting your point across, but I don't go along with your being a victim silenced by the government. You're naive possibly for the thoughts of "rainbows and awesomeness", but it looks like it is your best opportunity for making a living now and will prepare you for the civilian job market when you get out and the job market hopefully picks up. You probably wouldn't work for any company very long if you talked smack about them. At the American Revolution the colonies declared their independence from England, so there is a difference. Just my 2 cents worth, and I still feel you did a good job on the picture. |

Straight into the Sea by mattchristopherComment: Congrats on the ribbon! I thought this might be Scripps Pier. I took some pictures under it a couple weeks ago also, but was also looking for sunset and there wasn't any, so I abandoned them. Yours beat mine anyway. I like the time exposure. It looks like you had to set your tripod up in the water. |

HIGHWAY 156 TWISTIESby ONERSIXComment: Congratulations on getting 6th place on your first entry! I dream of getting 6th place sometime in my first 100 entries! And for not knowing much about cameras you have a great eye and instincts for the right picture. Keep it up. Great capture. |

Bridge Linesby tigmoComment: Very nice geometric pattern. I would have never figured it out without the title. I like the angle, though downward angles are considered negative. Too bad the resolution causes the jagged lines on the tight lines on top. |

Beauty and the Bridgeby smardazComment: Care to enlighten those of us that are a little slow about the significance of the bridge Jason? Is it the bridge to her growing up? Wow, I can't believe Sofia ScooterMcNutty is a 15 year old! She looks like a model. She has really matured in the past couple of years and I'm sure has a great future ahead of her. Kailey is pretty cool too. Good job, but until I see an explanation my (and other peoples) comment below still stands. ;-) |

Physiogramby Jacques123Comment: I was wondering when I first saw this whether it was a time exposure shot up at a single LED light swinging on a string. There are no notes, but based on the shutter speed I'm guessing it is? Interesting technique, but not especially captivating to the average voter. |

Slaveby mgarsteckComment: Political statement? Nicely composed. It looks marginally over processed, but that fits the mood well. |
