yeti.jpgby cynthiannComment: PAW - I looks like a white yeti stepping on the nose of a seal, symbolic of white oppression of black. OK, seriously, the only thing in focus is the bare branch. I guess you either missed the bird on the branch or were trying to catch it in flight, but if you wanted it sharp you had too low a shutter speed. Assuming low light conditions you may have wanted to use a high ISO (1600) to catch it. On the other hand maybe you're just capturing an artistic shot that isn't meant to capture a true life scene. I like to snow spattering up behind the bird. |

Sign Here.....by jhess77Comment: PAW - Nicely composed and good matching colors between the statue, building and trees. Are the trees really the bronze tone they look like on my monitor? |

Week 4 - Fernby AnnComment: PAW - Very nice shot. I don't think that's a shadow below but the other half of the branch. Beautiful background bokeh. Is it really shot at f13? I guess you're really close. Quail Gardens is a great place for plant pictures. I went there one time on a "free Tuesday" before heading down to Balboa Park for "free museum Tuesday". Nice cheap shooting day other than the accident I got in when I hit traffic on the 805. |

Skeletal Sentinelby quicheComment: PAW - Beautiful shot. This would have been great not only in Single Tree but in the Ansel Adams challenge, well maybe in landscape mode. Did you use a CPF to get the darker sky? |

Food 04 - Port and cheeseby hajekaComment: PAW - Delicious looking food, though I'm not sure what it is. Olives, cheese and other things? I'm not sure I like the pairing with the wine. It looks like two totally different things at different scale and with an abrupt border between then. I think either half alone would be better. |

Greater Striped Swallowby kellymkComment: PAW - Excellent DOF and good timing on the capture of the bird. Nice coloring on that swallow. They are much different than the barn swallows where I grew up or the swallows near here at Mission San Juan Capistrano. |

Week 3by moriadelacroixComment: PAW - Nice texture on the tree. Is it an oak? Very sharp trunk, good DOF and bokeh in the background. Good realistic color balance. That is a long exposure for a low f-stop and it looks pretty light out. Were you using ND or CPL filters? |

Week 2by moriadelacroixComment: PAW - I agree that week one was much better IMHO, and you set the bar very high for the year. Maybe bumping up saturation, sharpness and contrast would have given this more punch. |

Week 1by moriadelacroixComment: PAW - I like the silhouette of the tree against the sky. Nice transition in the sky from red to white and fading to deep blue. And the lovely reflective water background puts the icing on the cake. |

Week 3 - Busyby AnnComment: PAW - Excellent, sharp bee and cactus flower and beautiful bokeh in the background. Nicely composed. Yes, the flower does look pretty orange in my notebook monitor also. You live 2 minutes from Balboa Park? Good location, definitely with enough material for a year of Urban Nature PAWs. I go there a lot and was there Saturday evening with about 120 of my closest photographer friends in the San Diego Photography Meetup. We should get together some time and shoot. It would let me meet one of my 2009 goals to meet some DPCers.
