Curiousby cynthiannComment: PAW - Is that a wild bird? How did you get that close? The focus really draws my eye to it's eye. Nice, unusual shot. |

Food 09 - Herringby hajekaComment: PAW - The Herring looks very fresh. Nice shot, and the dill adds a little pizazz to it. I actually haven't had Herring. Is it really fishy? |

Mountain Sunset in B&Wby ShutterPugComment: PAW - You live in a beautiful place. I was in Alaska in September and was overwhelmed with the beauty of the little bit I saw on a 7 day cruise. Nice contrast and shadows with the sunset time. I like the marginally panorama shot. Great visibility. We had overcast skies most of the time I was there. |

Heh...by raishComment: PAW - The little girl waving really stands out from the otherwise similar but bored looking people out in the snow storm. Good catch. |

PaW 2009 Week 9: Sherri @ Clydesby marcbentonComment: PAW - I like the three layers, your wife, the restaurant and the buildings across the street. I'm with cynthiann, wishing my wife loved photography. We bought the camera together for our anniversary, but it's become mine and I have to make solo trips or with the local photo club when on shoots. |

8.52 Hedwig and the angry inchby MelethiaComment: PAW - I love the similar front but major contrast between the two business fronts. Everyone on the street is in their own world oblivious to the others. And a pigeon to boot. I like the crouching perspective too rather than the typical eye-level shot. They must be very protective at German McDonalds. Here I doubt an employee would question you unless you were shooting into the kitchen. |

Summer Flowersby quicheComment: PAW - I love the perspective from below and the sun streaks at the top. Nice sharp flowers and good DOF. The lens flair under the sun is unfortunate, but on the other hand sort of adds to the atmosphere. I like it in B&W but I'd like to see the color version. |

week 04 - Ball Pointby boyd2000Comment: I have cheap manual extension tubes that don't pass anything but light through. The lens is normally wide open unless you press the button to stop it down. Maybe you can fiddle with little levers to stop down the lens with it off, but the way I heard to do it is while you press the button to stop it down to the f stop you want, turn the camera off and it will retain the f-stop.
Yes, Judi, I agree the point being in focus would be better than the barrel. Maybe if I stopped down to f22 it would have turned out better. |

Color of Soundby YWRodelComment: Yosef, since I got your only comment the least I could do is comment on your entry that got no comments. I think you had a very creative view on this challenge. This is pretty easily recognizable, but just abstract enough to look like a close-up of an eye. The grill appears to be a little bit crooked, along with the writing on the bottom, but just a bit. It may have been better either not clipped at all or clipped more drastically on all four sides. It looks like noise on the rim, but I think it's just the texture of the rim. I like your lighting and keeping the background black. You've only been in two challenges so far, but based on your photographer's comments it looks like you have a good grasp on editing skills. Don't let the two poor scores get to you. Keep entering. |
