Mercantileby LanceWComment: Ooh, it's for sale! Looks like a bad investment.
Wonderful colors, great sky treatment (is this HDR? must be). The wide-angle effect is always a winner for me, as are scenes of desolation and decay.
If it were my photo, I'd provide a little more negative space around it, to show the building as small in the hugeness of nature. But that's my tastes... 9. |

Rest In (Green) Peace!by photom1946Comment: You've got a nice subject here (as well as a lot of poison ivy?). I like scenes of decay and reclaimation by nature.
I think this suffers from busyness, however; there's just soooo much texture it's hard for the eye to settle. Also the satellite dishes are kind of anachronistic with the "return to nature" think I get out of this shot. |

Storm Over the Cityby optionComment: This is great! Incredible depth, and the light on the skyline is amazing. I'm torn about the shoreline on the right; the framing it adds is nice, but it only covers 1/3 of the edge and to me is a little distracting, if it could have been continued farther up the frame I think that would have helped.
I say 9. Very nice shot. |

Simplicityby admart01Comment: I like these minimalistic shots a lot; reminds me of this one which was, to my mind, terribly underated in the Rule of Thirds challenge. And magnolias are such beautiful willing subjects.
That said, this one doesn't work as well for me; here are my guesses as to why:
first, the pink doesn't pop in the same way. It stands out, to be sure, but it somehow doesn't spin my head around. Not sure why. It may be the darker bckground?
second, I think having the branch fade out of focus within the frame is very powerful; I think maybe for me the rest of your branch is a little too much in focus which draws my eye away from the bloom.
A really lovely picure, though, and of a style I wish we saw more of! |

prehistoricby griz210Comment: He's very pretty! Nice color. I feel it's a little contrasty, and a little more DOF would be nice. |

You Lookin' at me?by sea2cComment: This is a fantastic shot, with beautiful colors and s/he has a great expression... I like the composition with the negative space above. |

Tender Momentby debitiptonComment: A veyr sweet pic, and nicely framed in the doorway. reflections off the back wall are distracting and easy to remove, and as much as I'm a huge fan of vignetting, I find the relatively hard edge here draws my eye AWAY from your subject, in effect emphasizing the very things it was meant to de-emphasize. |

Sunset at the Intercoastal Highwayby eacComment: This is a very pretty scene... the composition is nice; my eye is led from the lefthand frame into the picture and out the back.
Technicals have some problems, though; at least in post... the sun is so bright, and the plants so dark, that it's hard to really see the whole scene without effort. I'd have tried (and I sure no expert) a little fill flash on the forground plants, and curves to brighten the sky and water and bring out the sunset colors that are one of the major assets of this image. |

Roosevelt Dam - 1911by BAMartinComment: great colors and composition. Don't even know if this is possible, but a shot from below mght have conveyed a sense of scale better. |
