A very nice shot and interesting subject matter. I'm not too sure about the title, it seems to belabor the point a bit. But this does have a mood of waiting that works for me in terms of the challenge. I like it quite a bit.

I think the title is stretching it a bit. This is a decent capture of clouds which aren't an easy subject. I would like to see a bit more detail in the shadow areas of the clouds and I'm not woed by this composition--the clouds just aren't quite dramatic enough to carry the compositional weight of the photo.

Hmmmm....I think a tripod whould have helped immensely here. There is a great deal of camera shake which effectively ruins this shot. The comosition isn't bad although my choice would have been to lower the camera quite a bit to include more foreground, i.e, the road, which in combination with the poles would act as an interesting lead-in for the viewer (see the challenge Vanishing Point for some good examples of this--I believe it was from '04). As it is the blank, washed out sky dominates the frame in an uninteresting way. Definitely try this shot again using a tripod and keeping the idea of vanishing point and leading lines in your mind.

Not an easy set-up I'm guessing. I can't help wishing you had chosen a balloon that didn't have words on it. My eye keeps being drawn to the black lettering at the bottom. It disrupts the clean quality of the pure red and white. I think cropping the blade to eliminate the decorative element would have helped for the same reason. A really good effort though.

I don't know....from a photographic viewpoint it looks like you captured this just at the perfect moment with the flare and smoke of the gun blast. Even with the title, this really doesn't suggest 'too early' for me. It's an interesting capture but ultimately I'm not really engaged in the composition or subject matter. I'm bothered by the way his legs are cropped just below the knees. It creates an unbalanced feel.

A beautiful llittle girl. It doesn't really capture the mood of 'too early' for me, because I can see she really isn't backstage (the kitchen tiles give it away). This is very severe cropping that doesn't do anything to enahance the composition. Some basic advice, compose your image carefully either in the viewfinder or on the LCD monitor before you take the shot and you can avoid this sort of weird post-editing crop (it takes a bit of practice with seeing how the camera sees,i.e., it sees everything that your mind's eye is able to ignore). Also, when photographing children (and pets), as a rule, you should compose the image from the child's point of view (which usually means squatting or even laying on the floor). There are expections to this rule, of course, but you should try not to make them too often. Lastly, flash really hurts this shot. Her dress as way too much glare and her eyes look washed out. The shiny dress and the bright blue patterned floor have become the main focus and that's a shame because she is such a beautiful little girl. She has such gorgeous coloring there is great potential for some beautiful portraits. It is worth buying a good book about photographing children. My suggestions for starters is use window light as available light to avoid using flash. Also, take some photos outside, in a shady spot if the lighting is harsh and full of contrasty shadows (have the sun behind your subject so she isn't squinting and then make sure you up your exupposure compesation

Nice tight shot of the subject matter. I'd like to see a bit more contrast in the play of shadow and light. I'm not quite getting a mood of early morning sunlight here. The details in the lights and darks are really washed out. So, in terms of the subject meeting the challenge this works. In terms of mood and phtographic interest, it really doesn't do it for me. It just kind of looks like a hokey set-up to me.

Two minutes too early for what? Without the title this shot doesn't say much to me about the challenge. The clock itself just isn't enough to indicate a mood of any sort. Strictly in terms of image quality, this is very poor, even for myself, never a stickler for a perfect digital image. Compositionally, it is a little better in that it captures the subject matter without a lot of distracting details like power lines, etc. Unfortunately, there is a bit too much drab sky in the background. Nearly 2/3 of the frame is taking up with washed out white skyline. The building looks oddly flat which is strange for such an architecturally detailed structure. I'm beginning to suspect that this was taken with the digital zoom so that you could get a shot of the clock hands. I think this would be the culprit behind the flatness of the picture plane and the extreme noise. The clock just isn't a captivating enough subject to make it worth sacrificing so much image quality by using digital zoom.

Without the descriptive title I'm not too sure this clearly meets the challenge but I like to be open-minded about the subtlies of these things...
I think I would enjoy this more if there was some activity around the boat---people lpreparing to set sail, for example. Either that, some sort of animal life form, like a gull perched on the mast or pecking around the sand (darn those pesky birds for not accommodating your photography!). The boat itself isn't quite enough of a grabber for me in terms of subject matter. I understand using the vertical format to capture the masts (not sure if that's the right term) but I feel like this p.o.v. is a bit cramped. I would like to see more of an expanse of shoreline in the distance to really give me a sense of place (is this a beach with a rocky shoreline or gentle grass covered slopes?). I don't get the feeling of spaciousness of the seaside.
There is a lot of potential in this shot. There is the beginning of a nice mood and I do get a feeling of early morning light in this photo.

Great mood you've achieved here.It almost looks like black and white but I think I see some pale color in the brick wall and in his jeans. I'm not sure about the laptop as a visual element...a sports writer too early for the game, perhaps? I guess for me it adds a weird element of modernity into an otherwise timeless sort of scene. It certainly doesn't affect my vote---just an observation.
Very nice.
