Warehouseby fadedbeautyComment: Great model (she's actually pretty and has up-to-date hair), good fashion (even accessories!) and fun setting. Works for me. Her top could have a bit more detail (it's a tad overexposed). |

fashion in hairstylesby anindyaComment: Sociological study but not fashion photography. Also, it is kind of a random point and shoot sort of photo that seems to be just about recording the guy's hairstyle. It doesn't seem to be a well-considered composition. The face in the background is very distracting. |

Wrapped in glowing lustby shadeeuaComment: I'm not really seeing this as a fashion shot. What fashion is being presented here? Even if it's an ad for hosiery, this is too abstract to properly show off the product. It is an interesting shot in terms of abstraction and art but it doesn't work for me as fashion. |

Age n Fashionby L o S TComment: This looks like it was submitted just to have something entered. I don't want to appear 'age-ist' but really, I just can't imagine ever seeing this in a fashion magazine, or even a fashion spread in AARP's magazine. The style content just isn't there for one thing. As a sociological study or an unusual portrait of a loved one it's okay. |

Always in Fashionby ArcanistComment: This looks like it was submitted just to have something entered. It seems more about the Peavy amps than fashion. Judging strictly by the tux, this looks like a wedding entertainer or guest. The image is really grainy in the area of his pants. |

2006by Postgate1Comment: This is a casual portrait. I'm not seeing the fashion angle at all. Showing a trend in a photo (and a pretty tired trend at that) doesn't equal fashion photography. There is a certain feel to a fashion editorial. I don't expect the same level of quality as, say Vogue or Elle, but the spirit should be there in terms of composition and style. I have to be able to at least imagine seeing the photo in a magazine.
In terms of strict photographic merit this isn't too bad but it could be better. The white thing growing out of her head is very distracting. Sepia isn't working for me at all. The mood that sepia tends to impart doesn't have much to do with this subject matter---it seems like a random choice rather than a well-considered one. Next time, try placing your subject further away from the background to avoid the halo shadow effect. Better lighting and focus is needed to bring out more sparkle (or 'catch light) in her eyes which look very flat in this photo. |

Tres Chic (Soi le Portrait)by kteachComment: This isn't tres chic, if you'll forgive the bluntness. This looks more like a glamour or vanity portrait than something I'd see in a fashion magazine, and unfortunately for this attractive woman, not a very good one. I could have done without the duotone. The model needs to be placed furthur away from the background to avoid the 'big hair' effect created by dark shadow directly behind her. Her skin tones are quite washed out do to overexposure. Try again, keeping her placement in relation to her background in mind and filtering the flash a bit with some wax paper taped over it. |

A tie nevers gets oldby nico_blueComment: The clothes are pretty pedestrian and boring but the photo has a certain fashion editorial mood. The model is attractive. His navel looks kind of unappealing peaking out from behind the tie. I'd rather see all or none. This little spot of it is distracting and odd--like a third eye coming out of his bellly. |

Hat Hair is all the rageby posthumousComment: This is very out of focus and I don't see the fashion focus. It looks like it was submitted for the sake of entering a challenge. |
