Jiffy Spa Dayby singsunshineComment: eeyeew...That is just too disturbing. That poor model had to smell peanut butter and lime jello for how long? Nauseating. The composition is striking and I like the exposure that you got for the jello--how it shows her eyelashes. The shiny peanut butter is just too gross for me to really like this picture. But I have a very strong aversion to the seeing food on people's faces. Even a little peanut butter on someones lips can make my stomach heave a bit. No kidding.
I bet this was a good facial for her. Lots of healthy fats. :D
Good job. |

After the Ballby sibelingComment: The cropping is a bit squeezed looking to me. I think it would be better if the shoe that the dog's head is resting on were turned so we see more of the interesting part of the shoe instead of the sole. It's a cute idea and I like the exposure. |

hungby missinseattleComment: I like the potential this image has. It shows an ability to look at the world around you from the perspective of an artist seeking out form and pattern. You were probably hurt by the technical stuff more than anything. For me, for this type of image to work, there needs to be infinite depth of field, i.e., everything is in sharp focus. Having everything in focus puts all the objects in the photo on the same visual plane which in an abstract type of image works best, in my experience. There is a lack of sharpness due to shallow depth of field and what sharpness there was on the bell seems to have been lost in resizing (I think there is a tutorial somewhere on DPC that tells you how to resize without losing quality). I will add that were this a photo in which we were looking out at a landscape or a human sort of scenario the slightly blurred 'window' that we are looking through can work nicely as a framing device. I think what happened here is that the macro function caused the shallow depth of field.

Thanks a bunch. I'm actually pleased it did as well as it did considering it has so much that the average DPC voter seems to hate (centered subject, blown-out light, b&W). I thought it was funny for the challenge but I also like the image on it's own merit. |

Pacified.by SimmsComment: Heehee...I thought of taking a shot like this of my daughter...and today she celebrates her 16th birthday. She still uses her binky (I don't let her use her old one at night when she's sleeping). She uses it when she sits and watches tv or draws at home. She will also take it to relax on the drive home after long dance classes. She has ADHD so I don't mind her using a comfort aide like this to help her unwind. It's better than drugs, booze or smoking, right? She actually threw it away when she was 3 but my husband dug it out of the waste basket and put it in his top drawer where he keeps mememtos. She found it years later. :D She started using it in secret and then openly when she realized we didn't mind.
Anway, back to you. This works for the challenge very well and it is also well done and quite lovely. |

...having a friend close behindby saintaugustComment: Without the title, I'm not really seeing the 'comfort' aspect of this photo. I'ts a lovely photo but the snow and water don't evoke a sense of comfort. There is quite a distance from the viewer to the subject and that also takes a bit away from the idea of comfort to me. This looks like a shoehorn effort to me. |
