POLICE UNVEIL ATVS FOR BEACH PATROLby ellamayComment: ARGH!!!! Those comments! There is just the right amount of "empty space" to create a sense of place. Nothing is wasted. And are people really complaining about grain in a newspaper challenge? Egads! This was my favorite for this challenge. It had an actual headline, relevence, artistic merit, the works. I'm really disappointed to see it place in the middle. |

Untitledby EddyGComment: You seem to have the lighting, outfit, backdrop very well planned. The model has lovely coloring which you've captured well with the lighting. She seems a bit nervous---I'd suggest something to loosen her up a bit if she is willing to sit for you again. Some wine, music she likes....something to make her a bit more comfortable with the process. |

Contemplationby waterliliesComment: Her makeup looks shiny and unnatural when compared to the casual outfit and setting. |

Kellyby TallblokeComment: Very shiny, creased background overwhelms the model. She has a nice expression but the shadows in the lower portion of her face (under the apples of her cheeks and under her chin) are very unflattering. |

My Loveby Thousands_FallComment: This is a bit too soft focus. Her eyes appear very flat and lifeless. There is no sparkle. Her hair looks wet--an odd choice without some kind of background context to clue the viewer in. |

Tessby sixmacsComment: The background is extremely distracting. I would suggest using shallow depth of field when you can't place your subject in front of a simple background. |

Glowingby lizzyc3Comment: Her lips look weird on the right half, particularly the lower portion--very smudged and overly saturated, like a clumsy touch-up was done. My eye keeps being drawn to that and the freckles on her arm. |

My Brother Daveby bobdaveantComment: The subject is too close to the background and appears to be lit with the flash in your camera. Having the subject sit further away and directing a separate light at the background will separate your subject from the background and eliminate the closed-in, flattened head look that this proximity creates. |

Katherineby kncoughlinComment: This image is disturbingly Lolita-like to me. She has too much lipgloss and she appears to be wearing nothing but a neclace under the low-cut, over-sized tuxedo jacket (an odd choice of costuming, IMO). She has gorgeous Rapunzel-like hair and beautiful skin which you've captured well. |

Tamaraby PhilosComment: Her lipsitick is rather crusty looking because her lips are chapped. Also, it is far to overdone for a model of this age. I know it is very hard to capture eyes this dark. I have nearly black eyes myself--I'm aware of how difficult it can be to capture highlights when the irises seem to disappear into the pupil. It can be done with careful lighting and exposure. What I see on my monitor are rather flat, black irises with tiny dots of white. Kind of unsettling. It might be due to overly soft focusing. |
