I would like this better if it was taken straight on. The side of the pool is tilted and it is a little distracting. Besides that, nice job.

I do think that with the color of the bird and some what darker background the bird doesn't stand out as much you would like, really making the bird the main focal point of attention. The bird gets lost in the background in a sense, especially the beak area. You could either lighten the bird a bit or the background to give a bit of contrast. I would also run the background through another go of noise reduction, on a duplicate layer where you can mask out the bird preserving the detail. I would probably run another USM or Smart sharpen on the eye and face, crisp it up a bit more. Take all this with a grain of salt as it's only my opinion and I'm no expert, though I do enjoy shooting birds(with my camera:-). Cheers!
