| 05/06/2009 03:43:14 PM | Recycle, reuseby IreneMComment: Congrats Irene. This is a wonderful picture. No doubt if you would have used a green liquid, this would have definitely been a top 10. However, this goes to show that you cannot do well in a challenge even if the picture is within challenge description. The title of this picture is the only thing I see that has anything to do with green. Other than that, this picture does not even meet the challenge description. This picture should have been voted on by challenge description, not title. This should have not done better than 50 percintile in this challenge, as it does not meet the challenge. When are the voters going to vote on challenge descriptions and the thought that goes into them instead of a good picture with only a title that meets the challenge description? This is the kind of thing that is discouraging people from entering a challenge, and causing them to leave this site and go to others. Sorry, but this pic should not even be in the top 100.
PS - (bubeltruble), I would like to know how you knew this was Irene M's picture, and did it affect your vote. I noticed it was during the challenge, and was not added in after because it was not edited. Is this some new way of cheating? I don't understand how anyone could possibly know how this is one particular persons picture when there are thousands of members on this site. Message edited by author 2009-05-06 18:20:52. |

You may not:
spot-edit your entry, except to remove sensor dust or hot pixels
use any selection tool, including but not limited to the marquee, lasso, layer masks, quick masks, or any similar tool to select a portion of your image for any reason other than cropping or creating a border.
use ANY editing tool to create new image area, objects or features (such as VIGNETTES, lens flare or motion) that didn’t already exist in your original capture.
An entry will be disqualified when a majority of the Site Council finds that ANY of the rules above were not followed.
The above penalties will be assessed only after review by the Site Council. In exceptional circumstances, the Site Council may elect not to apply a penalty. If a user is found to have intentionally violated the Challenge Rules, the above penalties will be in addition to any assessed for the violation itself.

Also, the halo effect leads me to believe this is an HDR image. How did you get the halo around the train and not the trees? I think that is not allowed also. I think a little of this and a little of that is kind of questionable. To pull a photo out like this, I would have these steps saved and memorized so I could use it on future photos. Assuming it is a legal shot, congrats on the ribbon. I hope for your rep it is legal, as I will try to duplicate this with " alittle of this and a little of that", but I don't feel confident about it. Message edited by author 2009-04-22 18:30:39. |

I thought better of you than this, for you to stoop to this level because many here do not vote the way you would like them to. I can only say while I do not agree with the majority a lot of the time, when a picture is not good, it's just not good, and this picture is not good. You are more than welcome to report me to SC again, but after they read your comment, I think they will agree this response is deserved. Message edited by author 2008-10-08 12:44:56. |
