Stareby shankswareComment: Beautiful model and great matching of the eyes to the background. If the eye colour is unenhanced then they are incredibly striking - if they have had a vibrance boost I might have just backed it off slightly. |

I've seen ashes shine like chromeby JdroullardComment: Great old truck and the grasses growing up around it add character. The current crop doesn't show anything in middle distance - I'm intrigued to know if there was endless rolling country that might have added to the sense of abandonment - or maybe there was something there restricting the possible angles of shot. |

Look to the futureby snafflesComment: Simple shot, nicely lit and good expression on the model. I might have cropped a little less on the bottom if possible - the chin seems to hit the bottom of the frame. If the neck was in shadow a little less crop might have enhanced the "isolated face" look that is otherwise well done. |

birdby HeidieComment: Nice and sharp from beak to eyes and great stare into the camera - it just needs a little light on the right hand side so that we can see the detail in the left eye. Difficult to achieve given the strong natural lighting but maybe a little dab of flash would have been worth a try. |

Manhattan Lightsby NeilComment: Dramatic sky and a nice pattern of city lights with the river in the background catching the red and adding interest. The tone mapping/topaz (?) post-processing gives the image an almost graphic novel feel - I can see this as the cover pages with a superhero in the foreground looking out over the scene :-) |

A Piece of the Nightby oh_insane_oneComment: Nice lead in lines with the railing and rectangular lights, followed by the round lights providing a stop-point. I might have cropped slightly tighter on the right and top to emphasize those features & I feel I'm missing a main subject at the end of the path where the light lead me to. Of course there's never a subject around when you need one :-) |

Nocturnal Warriorby aerogurlComment: Lovely owl, nice and sharp around the eyes and beak, good depth-of-field choice to get this and nice catchlight in the eyes. There is a slight white haze on the bottom third of the shot that is a little distracting (a typical problem when shooting through cage wire that catches the sun?) and I get the impression that he is looking slighly to left of me rather than directly at me, which I would prefer. |

Breathtakingby gg3rdComment: Great cityscape and the tower is in exactly the right place - just a pity that the orange in the sky seems to have blown out on the centre to right hand side making it look a bit artificial (compare with the left hand side where the colouration is delicate and graded). Maybe HDR might have been a good option here or a tad less saturation boost in PP (if it was used). |

Old Lulling Millby eaglebeckComment: Really interesting old building, there must be a hundred pattern shots in there :-). I think those bright whites and dark reds would look really strong if this shot was taken under moonlight and a clear sky (if that is possible) - a darker sky would add contrast to the shot and show off the whites. |

Those Eyesby ClarabirdComment: Great eyes, but I find leaving the ear in the crop means they are a bit too far to the right in the shot. You could crop between the ear and the left side eye - which would give you a full image of that delicate fur with the mouth and eyes providing points of interest, whilst retaining that nice angle of the head. |
