Thanks! It really didn't take much time at all. I set the entire glass layer to "lighten" which left only the highlights. It was missing the light shadow on the rim that gives it more mass so instead of meticulously using the magnetic lasso or brush tool I set the selection tool to the circle with a feather of 2 pixels and made a big selection circle whose edge matched the top rim of the glass. Then I made another circle selection pressing the option key (mac) or whatever key makes the selection negative so that it takes away from your selection. I lined its edge to the bottom rim of the glass and had a perfectly smooth curved selection of the rim of the glass without spending hours.
Long winded explanation that probably doesn't make a huge amount of sense but I try :-D Message edited by author 2009-05-20 23:03:03. |

Garlic - Today's Ubiquitous Ingredientby hesitantComment: I just stumbled across this photo and I just love it. I am normally not a fan of light vignettes, but the feeling it creates here is wonderful. The variety of textures and colors in the garlic is just beautiful. |

Simple Pleasures in Lifeby wingwhamComment: Nice lines and central composition. The angle is a little funny because it isn't angled enough to make it a major feature but isn't straight on. Hmmm |

e n L I G H T e n e dby michaelmonnComment: I wish it wasn't so obvious this was a photographic umbrella. I love the colors and the side light. Very nice. If you had more freedom with the editing I would love to see the support lines on the umbrella lightened or something. Still, very well thought out shot. |

white lightby goodnewsComment: The ring light reflecting in the cat's eyes is a perfect compliment to the hint of it in the giant sunglasses. Very fun! |

Moonlight Glowby Mark-AComment: Very unique lighting. Normally people take these and make these look so soft, but I love the contrasting sharpness this has. Very cool |
