Nice composition, nice texture on the pillars - but it looks like trees in the back to me, however much colour's been taken out. Bit cheeky?

Like the compostition, like the colour, like the dirtiness of subject against the cleanness of the light - I just find it too literal an interpretation.

Almost put this at the top, but I'm not sure I like it in b&w: would love to see a colour version - maybe the ground would look drier? It also for me, doesn't quite say 'despair', as in no hope at all - still looks pretty much like a boat, huh?

The nearest anyone came to really portaying despair: few other shots really give you the idea that here there is NO hope.
