Double Vanishing Pointby plimComment: One of the more interesting approaches I've seen - I really rather like the geometry of it. It begs a study of the shapes and textures within that grass, and the slight oddness of the drain cover and those building on the horizon. Printed really big, it might almost be a Gursky. |

Lonely Tunnelby misterxisgodComment: Some human interest at last. I find it hard to resolve the details that I want to see in this - size has some part to play in that, as you haven't used the full dimensions available. I also wonder if you'd balanced your vanishing point and your figure with more consideration for their place in the frame it might be a more fulfilling image to view. |

the way the trains goby pellemannenComment: You could usefully have brought the black point up in this - the lack of it gives it a washed-out feeling. Perhaps this is too obvious a subject, with little to bring it out from the mass of other similar images. |

Linesby BrinComment: After a moment or two, this develops a feeling of floating free in space. The only thing I might suggest is that the stuff visible through the fence image right might have been cropped out: in such a pure composition even the most minor distractions can be important. It has an almost unworldly feeling. |

It's Just Around The Cornerby BlackMamboComment: Despite the slightly small size, I suspect you'll do quite well. Simplicity of composition works very well here. For me, it's a bit too obvious an entry for this - the lamppost giving just enough to balance the receding arches; but I find nothing here more than the recession and that post - no intrigue of composition, no human interaction. |

Denver to a Pointby lil_moComment: It's almost as though this world is divided: a world of cars and a world of people. |

Whirlygigby faeryComment: But you know how photos of kids tend to get voted here, yes? You hit a nail on the head with this though - anything that gives the sense of needing long exposure - basically, anything that looks like it needed fast film to shoot it - works in our understanding of where photographic grain should be seen. It's a basic, and nonsensical really, reaction. One might quibble with how far you've taken the whites of that dress, but that's all. |

In Rememberanceby ShuttermonkeyComment: I like the slightly mad composition here: the differing angles of hands and fingers, the partial inclusion of the head, the slightly unusual positioning within frame. Whilst perhaps not a 'great' image, it's certainly thoughtful and interesting. |

Killing Time Where Kings & Queens Have Passedby surfinbirdComment: These front steps of St Paul's have a certain appeal - I've never quite been able to nail it, photographically: I'm not entirely sure you've succeeded either. For me, I think the issue is that I don't see a story here, a narrative; nor do I find a particular interest in the groups of people - it's just all so very ordinary. That, of course, has its own appeal in a way, as a kind of document; but it's a photograph that one could take any and every day if one so wished, with much the same results. It is, however, technically unimpeachable - exposure and control is good, and some grain brings something to it. For my taste it could have more contrast. |
