fashion and traditionby jjbeguinComment: This should be entered in the Agfa portrait competition, my friend. Not only has the detail and depth that they like, but also that edge of weirdness. Great stuff. |

The Soul Speaksby librodoComment: Good solid portrait, interesting and touching face. Like the sense of his emerging from hiding, and the edge of concern in his look. Not convinced by the neg space right of frame - think I would have cropped it more, as I don't see what it adds, and the brightness draws my eye there a little and there isn't anything there that seems to help the story. |

Crescent Springsby ZoomdakComment: Done well to capture this light and still to blur the water - ND, or exceptionally low ISO? Good capture of a quite wide dynamic range too. Neatly composed too, so all round a competent image. Doesn't excite me much beyond on that technicl front however. |

Texas Bluebonnetby GordonComment: Wonderful detail, colour, focus. I like the balance too, of the foreground horizontal and the vertical subject. Highly competent, though a bit dull perhaps - lacking anything extraordinary. Woould make a successful stock shot I'd think - even room for some text :-) |

I otter be in pictures!by Sverige52Comment: Tonally excellent - the blue/green and the contrasting earthy tones of the animal and the stone are well caught. Some detail lacking - just don't get that feeling of real fine detail - and the light and cropping perhaps leave something to be desired. |

Galleryby davidbedardComment: I'm unconvinced about the processing here - sure, it's a legitimate entry, and all legal and everything, but it takes what would appear to me to have been rather a fine photograph into the realms of something else. I see a connection between the subject and the treatment too, but don't find it holds much appeal. |

Waropolyby PaulkComment: Strange picture: terribly well executed, technically of course, and I like the detailing both of shot and of set-up, in that cards and stuff. Did you make that monopoly board? Or are they actually so utterly insensitive that it is produced commercially? I wouldn't put it past some people ... but I think it must be your own work - terribly convincing. Overall, however, the image is a touch disorganised, which dilutes its impact - and in fact, I think it's too dependent on text for it's real moments of fun. |

Peek a boo kittyby TikicharmComment: Uninteresting - and, I fear, not even a terribly good cat shot. There's motion blur, presumably from a hurried hand-held shot, and it's way over-exposed, so that all sense of colour has leached out of it. It may hold emotional resonance for you, but I'm afraid for me it is of no interest at all. |

Hanging out with older kidsby ayshihComment: There is a certain appeal, despite what seems to me rather blatant lighting: the glare on the grape would perhaps have been something to avoid - makes it rather trying to look at. Nice idea though, and otherwise fine execution ... it's just that lighting is so crucial to photography ... it cries out for the use of a soft-box, or at least a much more diffuse light-source that that you have used. |

in MC Escher's world, this is not out of placeby schurgComment: Your spot-editing leaves an awful lot to be desired - especially as it is without the scope of the rules for this challenge. Anyways, it's hardly convincing - it just obviously looks like two bits of photograph cobbled together along that left side of the 'puzzle'. I do quite like the mundanity of the location however, in this context. |
