Ha ha. Don't believe you! Entirely beside he point, of course :-) i mean, where the hell do you get your interent comection? Wonderful guidebook photograph, just perhaps lacking in a little impact of light. Whilst it's a v=beautiful, almost painterly moment, I think perhaps the contrast could have been pushed to take it out of the realm of the 'straight-from-the-camera' and into that of the exhibition a little more. This almost has the feeling of cut from a holiday brochure, which isn't what I'm looking for here. Wonderful compositionally, especially that point of view, however. And there is a subtleytly to the light as you have used it that is rather pleasing. Wonderfully serene sky, too - all in all, a marvellous moment. One of our Scots friends?

Comment:
The selective de-saturation adds impact to the fake look of the brick-work, especially with the faux-georgian/palladian pediment on the doorway. The cheesy garland just re-inforces that impact. The overly-perfect bpointing, allied to the overly clean lines and maintenance of the scene speak of an obsession with appearance to the exclusion of historical accuracy, or perhaps a simple ignorance of it. Affecting shot, in those senses; lacking in a sense of contrast - nothing to re0inforce that message, or to make your real message clear if my assessment is wrong.

Village Shops

Comment:
Several strong compositional elements are let down because of a lack of a real subject: the shape, curve and lines of that parade of shops lead the eye to an area where there's nothing much going on - just pavement. Something happening at the junction of those two paths would make this shot, and make the foreground elements so much more impactful besides. Perhaps some work on the tones or the contrast would add effect as it stands, but colour-wise and light-wise this doesn't grab me.

Rather brutally centred composition, in the vertical plane, without the eye-catching effect to make it useful. Like the balance of vertcal lines though, and the prominence of the needle thing. Competent shot, but lacking in impact - largely, i think because of that compositional thing.

Competent shot .. perhapslackig in drama, despite that sky. It may only be the absolute cleanliness of that shoreline, but this has the feel of man-made territory, but the look of a supposed wilderness too - I think that contrast hurts the shot. composition pulls the eye in two drections - both up and down at the same time, which lends a feeling of unease: there's a reason the 'experts' suggest not putting the skyline on the centre-line of the shot ... :-)

Many congrats on your ribbon - and especially satifying when your first one is blue, despite the rigmarole you've been through to get there.

Zownd - two shots, first and second place, were DQ'd and as a result this photo has been promoted to first place. Thus the comments.

Interesting near-abstract shot. Perhaps lacks a bit of bite in the colours, or maybe it's just a blur added by the glass, or even that your depth of field doesn't quite have the scope to get the glass and the flower completely in focus. Just that little extra element would make those odd refractions and blurrings more impactful, i think.

Love the suitability of this very neat and pleasant suburban scene with the absolutel compatrmentalising of the window frame. Good work.

Now I would get the washing up done if I lived there, I'm sure :-) First reaction is that the square aspect ration of the shot is pecualiar - but in fact it serves to present the picture through the windows as something alien to this interior domestic scene - helped of course by the interio flash illumination. Makes that sunset (rise?) seem even more other-worldly. Good work keeping enough bounce of the glass, and not quite over-powering tthe existing interior light.

Reminds me of the building behind the Font Magica in Barcelona - only doesn't seem to be high enough, so I'm not sure. Good capture of an interesting display however.
