The lighting makes each of these objects glow by themselves it seems. Depth of field works, but title implies that all are important, so maybe experiment with all being in focus? Nice work, nonetheless.

Low key lighting gives this lovely skin a real lustre that is difficult to describe. Composition is marvelous. Title lacks imagination in my view, though it is certainly accurate!

IN this low light, I love how the hematite looks the same tone as the pearls! This is a nice stock photo, but I wish the jewels were just a tad more in focus. Nice.

Wow, their school must have lost the game for sure! Low light gives this photo an appropriate emotive quality. 9

Even your whites seem dark. Nice! Loving eyes, but also very pretty eyes. I like the intense feel the low key lighting gives.

This is a really interesting view--almost a candid shot. I like the realism implied by capturing the many lines and shapes that seem quite random. The window at lower left is a good touch, I feel.

Dark and foreboding! That's for sure! I love the green and the breath and wish the face were just a tiny bit more in focus. I can't see a reason for it not to be. Still, nice work on most fronts!

At first I didn't feel this met the challenge, but now, what the heck, it's dark, right? And I just love this shot: composition, focus especially. Nice work. 9

I love the way the finger on one hand is dark and the other is light, and vice versa for the other fingers. I like!

Greetings from the Critique Club!

I concur with all of the compliments below!

The first thing that strikes me about this shot are the wonderful tones. You really selected and manipulated your lighting here well. The lights are not too bright for this shot, and the shadows are appropriate.

This lighting augments the unique point of view you've taken for this clip board. Such an angle invites interest and engages me. I really enjoy the fact that I had to think for a second to figure out what this was. The title didn't help me much, but I was able to figure that out too.

Your composition additionally creates this unique point of view, and I like how you've cropped it. You've almost made an abstract image here, but not quite, and that really appeals to me.

To improve the shot, I'm not sure. But you might continue to experiment with point of view and cropping, just to see if it belongs as an abstract or as more of a stock photo. I like it how it is, however. My biggest gripe, and it's not very big, is that I'm not sure what I'm supposed to think here. So though I like the tones, it may be interesting to fiddle with lighting to add more drama or mystique to the shot--and try and transport my thoughts beyond the photo. I defer to lighting because that's what usually does this--for me, anyway.

This is a very nice shot, and I hope you feel pleased with it. I look forward to seeing more of your excellent work in future challenges!

David
