American Kestrelby richComment: What makes this shot so interesting is that, knowing it is a raptor, the contrast between what we expect (a sharp hunter with perhaps a bit of wildness) and what we get (a demure-looking, cute bird) is very engaging. |

composite.jpgby Dim7Comment: Now this is fun and spooky! Try this: use a 30 percent smudge tool with a small brush all along the outline of the owl, and it will 'fit in' better instead of having so harsh a line. There may be other ways, but this worked pretty well. |

Eruptionby dsidwellComment: Mehmet, I agree that it does look a bit off balance, and that I like it. Although I'm tempted to somehow do a balanced version. I figure that clouds can be off balance a bit, as long as the horizon is level. Hmmmm... |

The thinking man?by lelaniComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
I concur with all the positive statements below!
In this image, I see a bold use of silhouette, and a bold crop/frame, which shows this man's strength and enhances the form of the subject. The title is 'The Thinking Man,' but I see more strength here than thinking. Your cropping is very nice, and like any good art, takes our attention right to where it needs to be and communicates in the smallest possible way what needs to be communicated. If you ever wanted to crop more, you could probably get away with cropping more of the head to focus on the frame the body makes with the silhouette.
The lighting is nice for this shot, and is good for making the silhouette, but soft enough to avoid harsh highlights. You may want to think about simplifying your background and sharpening just a little.
Overall, a nice shot! I enjoy looking at it, and have enjoyed studying it. Keep up the good work!

A dog's eye view of our townby scottwilsonComment: Clever shot. I love your point of view and composition. The yellow certainly gets my attention! I kind of wish the background would be just a bit more interesting, but I still like the boldness of the composition and the strong yellow of the hydrant. |

Spring in the Suburbsby ladpupmoeComment: I like your use of depth of field, here, with so much in focus. Though to be honest I don't find the photo overly attractive, it DOES say 'suburbs', so nice work. |
