Slaughterhouse-Fiveby mrbig65Comment: The tones and grain give it a sense of foreboding that I like. The slight disassociated feel of the plant works well. This is one of the Vonnegut books that I haven't read, and reading the plot summary doesn't give me enough to make a tie to the story. 7 |

Flowers for Algernonby flahermaComment: The deep tones on the black and white scale are very appropriate for this shot, and reflect on the story well. All of the items are very symbolic of the main pieces of the story, down to the flower for the mouses grave. 8 |

Arabian Nightsby ecmguyComment: Not sure I see the connection to the story, outside of architecture. I like the reflection on the water and the subtle ripples, and the just after sundown blue really looks nice. Would have rated higher in a different challenge. 6 |

The Old Curiosity Shop-Charles Dickensby MonaComment: This seems like a loose tie to the book, though I have only read the plot summary so take this with a grain of salt. Not a bad shot, but I don't get the feeling that it emotes much of the story. 5 |

Kafka's "The Castle"by RyanWComment: I can kind of see the tie here. If this is a government building it would help tie it to the story in a modern way, but I can't tell if that is the case. Otherwise an interesting shot. The colors and angles play well, and the sky gives it a sense of height. Still, it seems forced in this challenge. 5 |

Piercing by Ryu Murakamiby P-A-U-LComment: Love the shot, but the tie to the story is not there. Not really what I would consider a classic either. Would have rated it higher in a different challenge. 5 |

Cold Comfort Farm - Stella Gibbons by StagoleeComment: I can't really tell if it is sunset on a farm, or on a field. The colors are nice and I like the silhouette of the trees, but it still seems to be missing a stronger tie to the story. 5 |

City-of-Glassby artistChanComment: There are apparently several of these books, none of which I've read and mostly new. Not sure if I'm missing something there. I like the mood of this shot, but there are some aberrations that keep me from loving it. There is some over-sharpness particularly on the windows and cars, and some over smoothing on the sidewalks and clouds. Neither would be that bad by themselves in the context of this image, but combined they clash. 5 |
