Elm Leavesby BalkoComment: Ingrid
Thanks for completing the challenge and for sharing seven great pictures with us. As has been mentioned already in the comments the blue in this picture is simply awesome (though I think the colours in all your shots have been outstanding)
Really interesting DOF used here that seems to fade in and out and various contiguous points in the shot, which is a pretty neat trick to pull off and which I really love. I also like the leading line that the twig dreates and the way the leave stems counterpoint this
As for a sour comment...hmmm well the red edge of the two leaves in the top centre of the picture seems a little off, I am not really sure how this could be addressed and would emphasise that it is only a minor point |

private conversationby sweetiekatComment: Yeah but what is the conversation
Person 1 "Do you like the new selfridges"
Person 2 "Its smart"
Person 1 "There IS an optician inside it dont you know...Perhaps you should visit it"
Nice take on the challenge. I am not really a big fan of over processed shots but this works well for the topic |

Yeah, I saw some guy doing this.....by totifotoComment: I dont know why but this shot just makes me laugh and laugh, lovely black and white conversion and a great expression on the model's face. Very smart and sassy and the photographic equivalent of a giggle on a sunny day |

Physics (Ode to Gary Larson)by ZeppKashComment: Still my all time favourite Larson cartoon and so this made me smile just by opening it. Shame you could not get a midvale school for the gifted displayed in the window.
Suffers a bit as some of the colours seem a tad washed out and the reflection in the window is a bit distraction (but I appreciate it is hard to do anything about this especially in basic
Thanks for the smile |

Elementsby smichenerComment: I really like the POV on this shot but sadly I think you may suffer because of the lighting, noise and the fact that it is slightly out of focus.
To be honest it in my view (an inexperienced amateur) it is easier to work on the technicals than it is to develop a creative side so you are more than half way there. Perhaps this would have looked slightly better in black and white where on occasion noise can enhance the finished product
I dont think this is going to do brilliantly in the challenge but I do really like the concept |

Leaning with the Authorby Phoenix-5Comment: Oh my word, is that Jamie Lee Curtis? I cant wait to here the story behind this one. You have done a brilliant job in catching both her and the childs beauty and happiness. Great vibrant use of colours as well. Its a shame about the distractions in the background, but I am guessing that you were at a signing and could do nothing about them. I appreciate that it could not be done due to the basic editing rules but I would love to see this with just a solid background (possibly the peachy colour on the left of the frame). Certainly one of my top 3 for this challenge
A great 8 |

On the roadby OdedComment: Definitely one of my top three for the challenge. Great POV. The subject in himself is interesting and the fact that he appears genuinely engrossed in his reading is wonderful. For a while I thought this was a black and white until I saw the slight colour in the boys face, which actually gives the picture a nice degree of warmth
Nice application of the rule of thirds as well. 8 |
