Fall Leavesby PixelstateComment: These can be done in so many ways, this is one that I never explored (looks like a duplicated layer heavily blurred, and laid over at about 60% with either a soft light or overlay transfer mode). The composition is very inviting and I just love the contrast between the two leaves - yum! A spectacular piece, simple yet engaging! -- 10 -- |

My Secret Spaceby timfythetooComment: Great, great location - such a sweet feel to it. The burst of gold from the leaves was brought out nicely, as was the bits of moss here & there. The pose is nice, and the expression is thoughtful & contemplative without being morose. The horizontal orientation does give a bit of claustrophobic feel to it, but I just love the texture of the stone walls so I'll happily endure it. Nicely done! -- 8 -- |

end of summerby GordonComment: I contemplated submitting a shot against the grain, too. We both know it can't possibly end well, though...
Regardless, your bold endeavor demands I pay closer attention!
Fairly nice bokeh from what I can tell here at this aperture. The COC are nice & not too busy, so that is pleasing. I love the hint of a scene with the person next to the tree. She (I say 'she' because of the colors, but I s'pose it could be a 'he') looks like she has a picnic blanket in front of her, likely folding it up given the title. Strong vertical elements that the grove of trees supply here adds a nice fairy tale element to the composition. The downfall here, IMO, is the lack in contrast & saturation. I'm begging for those highlights to be contrasted by deep dark greens everywhere, not just one small tease of a patch across the centre.
This has a nice impressionistic element going strongly for it, and I like the storytelling that takes palce in the title and the action. Ultimately a little more strength in the palette would have brought it up a notch or two for me - good luck! -- 7 -- |
