I like the memories this evokes for me, but I'm afraid as a photo in and of itself it needs more than what's there now. Perhaps an extreme close up of one of the smaller, snow covered branches shooting diagonally across the frame? Or maybe slightly different composition, but in black & white? I'm by no means an expert & still learning myself, so don't take my comments as any sort of professional critique! Good luck...

Great action shot, but I can't help but wonder if it wouldn't have looked better & met the challenge more head-on if it had been shot dutch. Maybe lower ISO & even higher shutter (plus opening the aperture a bit, of course) could have boosted the crispness, too? I'm pretty much a newbie here, though, so take my comments with a grain of salt - just 'cause I'm being critical doesn't mean I think MY stuff is doing any better! You likely will do better than my submission... Good luck!

Although this has the beginnings of something interesting, the perspective seems uninspired and the framing/cropping is unbalanced. The highlights are tipped a little to far into overexposure which isn't bad in and of itself except when it doesn't contribute to the image - I often like to bloom things a little but only when it will improve the mood. I'm pretty much a newbie here, though, so take my comments with a grain of salt - just 'cause I'm being critical doesn't mean I think MY stuff is doing any better! You likely will do better than my submission... Good luck!

Perspective/angle does not compel me much & the subject doesn't evoke much on her own. Focus seems a little soft, too. This may have had more impact as a b/w. Image is a tad busy - my eye is a little confused by the lack of distinction between the elements - might just be my personal taste. Our feathered friend is almost smack dab in the center, too, which makes it seem more like a snapshot than a real deliberate & thoughtfully composed work. 'Diagonal' connection a bit of a leap; head in lower right provides more distraction than interest. Most everyone has seen a real 'wow' firework so this moment seems a little tame & thus doesn't evoke a lot of emotion.
