Day 10 - The calm before the stormby KelliComment: I like the water in the background. The building and sky really do not add to the composition, so I might crop those out. The flowers provide a nice spot of color, but need to be brightened to bring that out more. |

Softby ElaineComment: Very good composition. I think you could carry the title a bit further with your processing by adding some Gaussian blur to those petals, and then increase luminosity overall. |

Day 10~Daylily & Friendby annigComment: Nice capture of the white sulfur butterfly - generally when they land, they close their wings. This would be difficult to post-process because of the petal on the left that is out of the sun. Really good DOF and POV. |

Day 9 - The Visitorby PrismComment: Good focus, like the view from the top, love the drops of water and the ant. The crop is possible a bit too tight, which may cause this to look "busy". Probably needs to be brightened, too. |

Day 10 - Clematis aka Leather Flowerby ephlnComment: Very well composed, although if possible, I would have more negative space all the way around. My favorite part of these flowers are their centers, kind of looks like sea anemones. Texture of the petals really does look like leather. I might also try to brighten up the overall picture. |

Staredown by jmritzComment: Funny story! The focus is sharpest on the beetle, but it's a little hard to see the details because the lighting seems to be brightest on the background. Might be able to do a little selective brightening on just the little guy to bring out his "face" more. |

Day 10by BradComment: Hey, whatever works! I've seen so many day lilies on this thread, that this is so refreshing. Excellent choice with the desaturation, drawing more attention to the lines and curves. Lighting is perfect - looks like a studio set-up! |

Redby TejComment: I have this nice little lens, too! It does a nice job with very shallow DOF pictures. The light areas in the background do look like a face in the thumbnail. A LOT of negative space, which in this composition seems to be quite effective. |

day9bwduo.jpgby superdaveComment: I love your lighting, especially on the bottom leaf. I think that you need more negative space at the bottom and right side. |

Echanatia and honey beeby BlueZamiaComment: The colors do seem to be a bit too saturated, but I think the way you have cropped this to call attention to the flower's center is good. I find that the OOF bee is distracting. |
