Farm Kittenby TravinderComment: its eyes are a bit soft. For a shot like this, where you know exactly what you want to be in focus, its worth selecting just of your autofocus points (if you have that facility) and pointing that at what needs critically to be in focus. Most cameras will let you select focus, then recompose. |

oh the joyby boysetsfireComment: with animals that have long faces, like dogs, depth of field is going to be an issue in any shot like this, because of the distance from the eyes to the nose. The solution is to tilt the camera so as to align the lens with an imaginary line joining the nose to the centre of the forehead ... or stop the aperture right down, which would mean the background wasnt as blurred, and would probably be too slow for something living that wants to move about. |

Sweetnessby bvoiComment: I would have given this a higher score, but the eyes are very shiny, the flash has caught in them strongly for some reason |

Chimpingby elemessComment: Class. His lens may be longer, but the other guy's moustache is more impressive. |

Humble Beginningsby nazpillayComment: took me good minute to see three image (least I think there are 3) Nice idea, but I think the white space at the bottom right takes away from it. |

HER PIERCING BLUE EYESby POLOComment: lovely shot, my only quibble would be the bit of white background at top right. Its a bit distracting, and with only a slightly tighter zoom / crop, it would have been hidden from view. And they are beautiful blue eyes |
