The Colors of My Freedomby StevePaxComment: Hi Steve from the Critique Club,
My first impression of the picture - poor focus and simple concept we've all seen 100 times. Some commented a black background might have been better, I'm not so sure, because then the darker colors wouldn't have contrasted, so maybe a different background, but I'm not sure what color would've worked best. The actual positioning of the crayons wasn't so bad, you just needed focus. I would recommend never submitting a photo this poorly focused, you can always reshoot until you get focus, that's one of the advantages we have using digital.
Sorry I have so little good to say, but, I'm trying to help you out, not just to say nice things so I don't hurt your feelings. Just keep shooting and try to learn from mistakes.
Take Care,
Brian |

A Dying Breedby purpletrollComment:
"DPChallenge user purpletroll has sent you the following private message:
I beg to differ. They are not of a dead breed. San Fransico still uses trolley cars."
Hey purpletroll,
No offense was meant by my comment. When I commented "A dead breed", I meant this trolley car in particular. I realize they still use trolley cars in San Fran, though I did not know this one was from PA. I have seen the ones in San Fran, and they are great. I just feel that this particular car looks very "dead", not dying. A feeling of nostalgia might have been more inspired by a pic of a trolley in use (at S.F. for instance). This particular shot more makes me think of "Junk", not "Nostalgia". Sorry if I seem blunt, but if we all make comments based on what we really feel instead of trying to not hurt feelings, we all might learn more from each other. BTW, I gave you a "6" on this photo, well above the average score it received. Others weren't so kind because they gave you a low score and didn't tell you why!
Take Care,
Brian

The Fun and Wonderful Toy!by kraeComment: Seems like the slinkies in the back aren't focused as well. I like this shot, nice subject and the composition is pretty good. Are those slinkies worth money now? |

Remember...Running Awayby DoorskidderComment: Yeah I do! Just I didn't travel along the railroad, it was a nearby lake. Great job with the color, and I like your choice to leave a large empty space in the foreground - it gives me the impression that the little boy has traveled a ways. This is one of my faves in this challenge. |

Next Stop 1952by OneSweetSinComment: Nice job on this. Nice effect with the rusty red engine. The sky is pixelated, however, you probably overprocessed the photo I'm guessing. |
