The soft focus of this image suggest that there might be some camera shake involved. Compositionally, I have a couple of suggestions you might try. First, I would have liked to have seen the all of the red boat in the picture. The color of the red boat complements the colors of the blue boat; however it should be part of the story instead of just looking like something stuck in the background. Second, if you would have moved to the left to get more of the beach and water into the image, it would have better supported your title Low Tide. As it is, I almost missed the water in the far right corner, thus the boat looked like it was being stored.

I think you picked a very good subject for this challenge. There primary issue keeping this image from scoring higher is that the main subject isn't tack sharp. The soft focue in the face area actually convey the feeling of motion instead of froozen in time. I'm sure others will find fault as well with the harsh lighting but since he is wearing sun glasses and there is still lots of detail in his face, I think the lighting is quite effective.

The first time I looked at this image I knew it wasn't a strong subject choice for this challenge but I couldn't figure out why. Now that I am revisiting to comment, I can tell you why it doesn't work for me. First, the sign is an information sign telling you to be careful and maybe even slow down. Second, nothing about the sign and surroundings say you need to stop or that the person already is stopped and is just starting back up. Since the sign is the main subject of this image it needs to sell the challenge theme and it really doesn't do that very well.

Having an object that is always stationary as the main subject for a stationary challenge will not make it a strong entry for many voters. This image suffers from very flat lighting. A little bit of work with levels, curves, and saturation would go a long way. I would have also have like to have seen a little different prospective when you took this, as having the monument dead center makes the image look very average. Move to the left and get a little lower to the ground. Stretch your imagination and see what you can come up with.

The calm of the water around the goose definitely says stationary to me. However, the placement of the goose in the image leaves a considerable amount of negative space in the bottom left of the picture. This negative space doesn't really add to the picture, as the orientation of the goose and the shadows in the water lead your eye away from the negative space. The focus on the goose also appears to be sharpest on the rear end instead of the head.

This image looks like it has been stationary for a long time. However, it also looks like it never moved that much in the first place. This doesn't make it a strong entry for this challenge. Here are a couple of suggestions you might want to try to improve this image. First, crop or clone out the blue object on the right edge (Yah, I know it is a basic editing challenge). Second, try cropping off the bottom of the image just above where the flower in the bottom right hand corner is removed. This should help emphasize the lighting on the front of the bird house and bring the focus of the viewer to the object you intended.

This is an interesting image for this challenge. It shouts stationary in two different ways, by looking like it has never been used and by looking like it is inoperable. The faded red color adds to both interpretations. What is really hurting this image is the pole on the righthand side. The white and red paint looks newer than the fire alarm and really draws my eye.

This image does convey the challenge theme but it not very strongly. The primary suggestion for improving this image is to play around with the lighting to eliminate the glare and maybe try to get the leading edge (Right edge of the speedometer) in focus.

This is an exceptional image that I had to rate lower than I wanted because it is an extremely weak subject for a stationary challenge. If it is any consolation, I have added it to my favorites.

After taking a second look I'm bumping this to a six. Having something that once moved and is now a fossil definitely fits the challenge. The colors are warm and rich but the bright spot in the background is a distraction. This will be a nice addition to your portfolio when you clone out the bright spot (Darn basic editing rules).
