Hi, as requested, here is an indepth critique of your submission.
First Impression - the most important one:
Very good post-process treatment of the bright yellow flower against the dark, dull road.
Composition:
Your composition is actually pretty strong. But, for this challenge, I want to see the road a bit more. At least give me edges or something to let me know it's a road and not just an asphault covered backdrop.
Subject:
Subject is very clear and I love the yellow against the black.
Technical (Colour, focus, and light):
Color is wonderful, focus is sharp.
Lighting seems a bit flat to me though. I'd like to see more dramatic shadows in the flower.
To grow its vote?:
Well, for this challenge, I expect the voters wanted to see more of the road, than just the flower lying in it. Had this photo been in another challenge, I'd give you a shot at top 25, maybe higher.
Summary:
Great photo, very well executed. But, perhaps you overthought the challenge and tried to be too unique.
Hope to see more from you soon,

Hi, as requested, here is an indepth critique of your submission.
First Impression - the most important one:
A bit too busy. Mostly what distracts me is the bus behind the first car .
Composition:
I think angle or perspective would have goven your shot a LOT of punch. What I'd like to see is cars disappering into the top left corner. giving the composition a full diagonal composition.
Subject:
The photo is, like I mentioned, too busy. Subject or subjects isn't well defined.
Technical (Colour, focus, and light):
Focus appears that it was sharp leaving the camera. Perhaps a bit more sharpening after resize would have made this image sharper though.
Colour is vibrant and seems very natural.
Exposure is a little underexposed. But, we have a problem. IF you were to expose the darker parts of the image correctly, you'd blow the highlights on the tops of the cars. I'm thinking maybe you just shot this at the wrong time of day.
To grow its vote?:
Composition goes a long way around here. Voters want unique points of view and sometimes very wild angles. They also seem to like bright vibrant colors. Just a few hints to get ya going ;-)
Summary:
Your score is respectable for your first challenge. I expect we'll be seeing more from you... and I hope to see you on the front page soon.
Hope to see more from you soon,

Hi, as requested, here is an indepth critique of your submission.
First Impression - the most important one:
Very abstract, nice and clean.
Composition:
very interesting indeed, but I like to see the bottom cropped so that the jet stream meets with the bottom left corner to give the line a full diagonal feel.
Subject:
More of an abstract image, so subject isn't its focus.
Technical (Colour, focus, and light):
Color is great... that's pretty much the blue I see when I look at the sky.
Focus is sharp, nice detail on that moon.
Exposure is very good.
To grow its vote?:
For this challenge, I'd expect you were a little outside the box. Voters were, for the most part, looking for roads, or at least things that very much resembled roads.
Summary:
Nice abstract, good color and exposre. Think you've got technicals down pretty well.
Hope to see more from you soon,

I love the smooth legs against the dark leather amd the hardness of the gun and the framing of doorway. All great! Only negative I have to point out is the glare on her glasses.
I'm giving you a 10 |

Very well executed shot. Lovely color and contrast and composition is striking. Bravo! 10 | Photographer found comment helpful. |
