Dog Dreamby aznymComment: I would suggest that the dog is the subject here, not the tree, which is cut off. The bright sky and muted tones nicely depict the dream quality, but it doesn't present the tree ideally. |

Life & Deathby dfstevensonComment: The single tree doesn't stand out enough against the background trees. The bottom of the trunk and the top of the tree are ok, but the middle gets lost in the green behind it. I also would like it better with the tree offset. |

Alone I Standby hokieComment: I like this in some ways and don't in others. The exagerated Panoramic view is a bit wierd, though I can see what you were getting at with it. The tree really does stand out nicely with all the blown-out sky and the dark ground, but the out of focus and totally black area at the front end of the foreground should be cropped out IMO. |

Evening Swimby amberComment: I would argue that the child, not the tree, is the main subject of this image. If the tree were the main subject it would not be cut off... |

Last Man Standingby runericComment: The tree is bearly visible against the background. The bright rocks and sky fooled your camera's light meter into into thinking the scene was better lit than it is. It would be better to use spot metering on the tree and then adjust the sky later if it is too blown-out. |

Buzzcutby StrikeslipComment: I see that the tree is straight, but that should not be done at the expense of the horizon. Also, the dodge on the background is too extreme. It makes it look washed out and distracting. If you wanted to de-emphasize the background detail, I would suggest using burn to darken it. Bright areas tend to draw the eye and distract. |
