Where is stdavidson?..........Just chillin'by taterbugComment: Excellent concept that fits the challenge well. Framing and placement of the subject is good. The scene itself and the subject's inclusion in it is very well conceived. The view from behind shows how the subject is "chillin'" but leaves the viewer wondering what he is thinking.
Color seems a bit off and weighted toward the red and magenta. Looks like it needs a color correction aplied. In Photoshop this can be done using a 'curves' adjustment for the red channel by just dragging the centerpoint lower and to the right. This will tone down the red and bring out more green. 'selective color' can be used to reduce the intensity of the magenta of the ground only for a more natural look.
It is true I was "chillin'" while lost but in a much less friendly place from this. I'd much rather have been here, especially with all that nice water, shade and a real place to sit. Where I was it got upwards of 104-108 degrees (40-42 Celsius) every day, there was little shade, food and every plant had thorns. Finding water was a bit tricky and it tasted bad. And it was hard to find comfortable rocks to sit on. :) Other than that, it was just like you pictured it. ;) LOL!!! - Steve |

Runnin'by ZoomdakComment: Looks like the Oregon coast during a low tide. Like how the beams of sunshine are struggling to break though the fog.
I was a long distance runner in high school and and always enjoyed running at the beach. I attended college on an athletic scholarship and ran for years after I graduated college. I credit my background in running for being able to properly pace myself and not overexert. I hiked between 4-7 miles each day despite the extream heat conditions and felt OK. - Steve |

Lost in the mountainsby chakkobboComment: An excellent black and white image. Beautiful location. The way the tones change from black at the bottom to near white at the top makes for an eye appealing composition.
The mountains where I was lost were considerably smaller, more like an unending set of washes and gullies than anything else. No snow where I was. :) - Steve |

Steve: Rescued From The Urban Undergroundby EssAreDubyaComment: Nice angled perspective and decent technical quality.
I think the dark, dank recesses of the urban jungle are more treacherous and unforgiving than the Sonoran desert in the heat of summer. Glad I was stranded there rather than in the urban jungle. I see there was an ambulance waiting to take me to the hospital when I emerged just as actually occurred. :) - Steve |

At the end of a long trek theres a pot of GOLD.by coolblueComment: Now you are talking. Indeed there was a brew or two waiting after I emerged from the depths of forced desert prohibition. Selective desaturation can work well and I think is especially appropriate in this case. :) - Steve |

unnamedby PanoComment: Nice use of a wide-angled lense and good perspective. The orange highlighting adds to the image. There are a few jaggies on the railing the foreground leaves in the lower right are a lttle out of focus. but overall this is a good and appealing image.
I was lost in a considerably different environment, of course, but stark just the same. Would have been fun sliding down the rail though. - Steve |

Steve is going with the flow...by stare_at_the_sunComment: Nice flow image. I'm either try to get stop action on the water or a nice smooth flow pattern. Neutral density and/or polarizer filters are good for getting extended exposure times without overexposing te image.
Good challenge interpretation and very, very accurate. You have to have some understanding of and respect for a harsh environment like the Sonoran desert in summer. Forget that and you will get in trouble fast. I did everything possible to minimize the dangers... I went "with the flow" - Steve |

Lost on Marsby BrinComment: Nice Marscape. It has a realistic look and feel to it, too. Like the sky and desolate landscape. Not a bad rendition. Here is The Real Mars. Though this is not exactly what it looked like, it accurately conveys what it FELT like to me. :)
On a serious note, I learned after I got back that one of the signs of severe heat stroke is delirium where the sufferer often removes their clothes just before they go down for the count. This frequently happens to illegal immigrants from Mexico that try to cross the border in southern Arizona and die of exposure. Not a good way to go.
But I would not have recognized that sign in me. How would I know? Whenever I get around beautiful women I already get the urge to remove my clothes. LOL! - Steve |

He's In Here- Help Me Break It Open!by JeffryZComment: This explains a lot of things regarding my disapperance. No wonder I was gone for so long and with those horns you can see why I was not in any hurry to escape. As I recall, I finally escaped after this beast finally rolled me over Niagra Falls inside the barrel. - Steve |
