Redby jdannelsComment: First impressions are that it's nice to see a picture composed from an unusual angle - Especially for a portrait. I like the space around you and the burning in has been done well and naturally looking. I like your awkward pose and the way the legs splay out. Keeps the image interesting.Composition is very nice and easy to the eye. If there was one thing that I could possibly comment on that is a little distracting then it would be the shadow from the guitar and hands. I just find the shadow a little distracting the way it bleeds into your beard. For me it makes the beard look almost too long - Also the pose of your head and neck seem to be a little awkward. Maybe because of the angle but it appears you have no neck. I feel if you were looking up (Not at the camera by the way) at the same angle you are at now you could have possibly avoided the awkward neck situation and then the shadow on the lower part of your face. Those are only nit picks by the way - It's a great shot with a creative angle.
Nice one.

Foot Bridgeby bvlindalouComment: Well that has worked out very well - I have never used that filter before but it's very realistic. I loved the muted green colours that give you a calm feeling and that they are broken up nicely by the white bridge. To be honest I am finding it hard to comment on this one - I keep toying with the idea of a person standing on the bridge facing away from the camera but think that may break up the calm of this pic. It's also hard to comment technically as the filter effect is so strong that it really is more like a painting than a picture. So on that note I will say overall it is very pleasing and makes me think a lot which is what a piece of art should do - I think I have learned more here than I can comment on!! I will have a go at that myself. Well done
Cheers

Jump on inby PhotoDaveComment: First impressions are the great colours - Very calming and complimentary. It's a lovely scene and the exposure is great. As far as composition is concerned I feel I need just a little something to hold my eye. I love the way you follow the water to the vanishing point which is a great way of leading an eye into the picture - Only problem is after that my eye tends to wander all over the place and not hold to something. The lighting is nice to pull out all that detail in the rock but I think to just add a bit more to this it could do with something in that left hand corner. Something to be in the middle of that expanse of water just to break it up a bit - Ideally a red canoe! But we know we can't always have what we want. Overall it is a lovely serene picture that could do with a little extra something to keep our eye interested a bit longer and maybe a different perspective as the horizon seems very middle centered. Please note this is only advice from me alone - The important thing is YOU like the pictures you take. Look forward to seeing more.
Cheers

The Black Tuskby optionComment: Wow - You did get a lot of comments and that is great. First impressions are - Smooth as silk. Those snow drifts look like custard. Really pleasing to the eye. The exposure seems to be spot on with detail held in all the highlights which to say the least must have been tricky. The composition is very pleasing with the mountain in a great spot. As far as making this picture any better I would say there is very little to do. Personally I would have loved to have seen a true black in the very darkest points of the picture and maybe just held back a tad on the burning in of the sky - But these really are minor suggestions - Cracking picture and one to be proud of. Well done. |

Faux Beautyby UbersteinyComment: Very striking image - Certainly gets your attention. I presume it is for an advert or something as most people tend to avoid writing on their pictures?
Personally I think I might enjoy this picture more without any of the writing - I love the selective colour of her eye and the black shadow. I even like the thin black frame around the pic but the words just take me away from the nice bold picture which to me deserves the right to be seen on it's own because it's a striking image. |

sam2.jpgby mobsterComment: My first impression is the colour - I love the almost cross processing look. The weathered copper green and the contrast of the yellow is really pleasing to the eye. The lighting is nice but maybe just a fraction bright on the top left of the dogs head which leads your eye away from his wonderful face. If I was being really picky just a little more detail in his eyes might just help lift them as from the lighting it looks like there was detail in there before the post processing? Overall a great pet portrait with fantastic colour and that splash of pink of a tongue. Nice. |
